The CPA's steering committee has met at the Imola2020 World Championships

Gianni Bugno: «Women's cycling, electronic voting, safety, communication... there are many priorities we are working on»

The sun shines again on the cycling world and the World Championship in Imola, in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy, represented a restart for competitive cycling. Also this was done considering all necessary safety measures due to the virus that has upset the competitive season and the lives of men and women everywhere.

During the Road World Championship which celebrated the victories of Anna van der Breggen, Filippo Ganna and Julian Alaphilippe, the Steering Committee of the International Association of Riders have met and many topics have been discussed such as the amendments to the CPA statute to officially welcome the female sector and to allow the athletes to vote electronically in the CPA Assembly.

«These are changes that we have wanted to implement for some time and that are finally about to become reality. After working on the creation of the centralized platform for the prize money management, having dealt with the COVID emergency in professional cycling, the health protocols and negotiations with the other stakeholders of our sport, we are dedicating ourselves to giving an internal organization to the CPA Women, which is growing hand in hand with women's cycling. We also discussed the introduction of electronic voting for our members, especially to facilitate the participation and voting of riders in the CPA Assembly. The vote of the individual riders, as members of the CPA, was already foreseen by our statute but now we would like to make it possible even remotely» comments the CPA president, Mr. Gianni Bugno at the end of the works.

The representatives of the athletes have talked a lot about safety, putting on paper all the proposals that will be made to the stakeholders who will meet in a working committee in October. The CPA will ask that the barriers and protections will be regulated more precisely, that the inspection of the race courses will be carried out by an independent commission, that a minimum safety distance will be adopted between the vehicles and the group, that the sanctions for those who causes accidents and irresponsible organizers will be stricter and that these will get reinvested in the safety of the riders.

A new regulation for the transition fund is also being studied, to find more effective solutions when the riders retire, to get new funding and a distribution system that can help due to the increasing number of retiring athletes. Last but not least, it was decided to create a new application that will help the CPA improve its services for riders with an easier communication between them and the CPA representatives during the races and beyond.

Le soleil brille à nouveau sur le monde du cyclisme et le championnat du monde à Imola, en Émilie-Romagne, en Italie, a représenté un redémarrage du cyclisme professionnel. Cela a également été fait en tenant compte de toutes les mesures de sécurité nécessaires en raison du virus qui a bouleversé la saison de compétition et la vie des hommes et des femmes partout dans le monde.

Lors du championnat du monde sur route qui célébrait les victoires d'Anna van der Breggen, Filippo Ganna et Julian Alaphilippe, le comité directeur de l'Association internationale des coureurs s'est réuni et de nombreux sujets ont été débattus tels que les amendements au statut du CPA pour accueillir officiellement le secteur féminin et permettre aux athlètes de voter en modalité électronique à l'Assemblée du CPA.

«Ce sont des changements que nous aurions voulu mettre en œuvre depuis un certain temps et qui sont enfin en train de devenir réalité. Après avoir travaillé à la création de la plateforme centralisée pour la gestion des prix, après avoir traité l'urgence COVID dans le cyclisme professionnel, les protocoles de santé et les négociations avec les autres acteurs de notre sport, nous voulons donner une organisation interne au CPA féminin, qui grandit de plus en plus dans le monde du cyclisme féminin. Nous avons également discuté de l'introduction du vote électronique pour nos membres, notamment pour faciliter la participation et le vote des coureurs à l'Assemblée du CPA. Le vote des coureurs individuels, en tant que membres du CPA, était déjà prévu par notre statut mais maintenant nous souhaitons le rendre possible même à distance» commente le président du CPA, Gianni Bugno à la fin des travaux.

Les représentants des athlètes ont beaucoup parlé de sécurité, mettant sur papier toutes les propositions qui seront faites aux parties prenantes qui se réuniront en comité de travail en octobre. Le CPA demandera que les barrières et protections soient réglementées plus précisément, que l'inspection des parcours soit effectuée par une commission indépendante, qu'une distance minimale de sécurité soit adoptée entre les véhicules et le groupe, que les sanctions pour ceux qui causent des accidents et les organisateurs irresponsables seront plus stricts et que ceux-ci seront réinvestis dans la sécurité des coureurs.

Un nouveau règlement pour le fonds de transition est également à l'étude, pour trouver des solutions plus efficaces lorsque les coureurs partent à la retraite, pour obtenir un nouveau financement et un système de distribution qui pourront aider en raison du nombre croissant d'athlètes qui terminent leur carrière. Enfin, il a été décidé de créer une nouvelle application qui aidera le CPA à améliorer ses services aux coureurs avec une communication plus facile entre eux et les représentants du CPA pendant les courses et en dehors.

Torna a splendere l'arcobaleno sul ciclismo mondiale. La rassegna iridata di Imola – Emilia Romagna, in Italia, ha rappresentato una rinascita per il mondo delle due ruote che è ripartito e lo sta facendo in sicurezza, convivendo con il virus che ha stravolto la stagione agonistica e la vita di uomini e donne ad ogni latitudine.

In occasione del Campionato del mondo su strada che ha celebrato le vittorie di Anna van der Breggen, Filippo Ganna e Julian Alaphilippe, si è riunito il Comitato direttivo dell'Associazione Internazionale dei Corridori. Tanti gli argomenti discussi, a partire dalle modifiche dello statuto del CPA per accogliere ufficialmente il settore femminile e per consentire il voto elettronico nell’Assemblea del CPA agli atleti.

«Sono cambiamenti che volevamo attuare da tempo e che finalmente si stanno per concretizzare. Dopo aver lavorato sulla creazione della piattaforma centralizzata per la gestione premi, esserci occupati dell’emergenza COVID nel ciclismo, dei protocolli sanitari e delle negoziazioni con le altre componenti del nostro sport, ci stiamo dedicando a dare un'organizzazione interna al CPA Women, che sta crescendo di pari passo al ciclismo femminile. Inoltre abbiamo discusso sull’introduzione del voto elettronico per i nostri membri, specialmente per facilitare la partecipazione e il voto dei corridori all'Assemblea del CPA. Il voto dei singoli corridori, in quanto membri del CPA, era già previsto dal nostro statuto ma ora vorremmo renderlo possibile anche da remoto» commenta il presidente del CPA Gianni Bugno al termine dei lavori.

I rappresentanti degli atleti hanno parlato molto di sicurezza, mettendo nero su bianco tutte le proposte che avanzeranno agli stakeholders che nel mese di ottobre si riuniranno in una commissione di lavoro. Il CPA chiederà che le barriere e le protezioni vengano regolamentate in modo più preciso, che le ricognizioni dei percorsi vengano effettuate da una commissione indipendente, che venga adottata una distanza di sicurezza minima tra i veicoli in corsa e il gruppo, che le sanzioni per chi causa incidenti e per gli organizzatori irresponsabili siano più severe e che vengano reinvestite nella sicurezza dei corridori.

Allo studio anche un nuovo regolamento per il fondo di transizione, per trovare soluzioni più efficaci per il dopo carriera dei corridori, nuovi finanziamenti e un sistema di distribuzione che possa aiutare un numero sempre maggiore di atleti. Infine è stato deciso di creare una nuova applicazione che aiuterà il CPA a migliorare i suoi servizi per i corridori facilitando la comunicazione tra associati e rappresentanti del CPA durante le corse e non solo.
