There is no time to rest on the Tour de France. Those who doubt this should have watched today's stage, the 192.5 km between Saint-Etienne and Mende, to convince themselves. From the start, it was necessary to be particularly attentive and concentrated because the level of pressure was super intense.
It was only after almost 40 kilometers that the breakaway finally came together. It was composed of 23 riders and among them: Simon Geschke. The experienced German rider continued to protect his polka-dot jersey of best climber. On the Châtaignier climb (3rd category), he had to work hard to get another point (2nd at the summit). After that, the breakaway had a 10-minute lead over the peloton. Simon once again distinguished himself by taking the lead on the Côte de Grandieu, the second difficulty of the day (2 points).
Although he was not able to keep up with the fastest riders at the end of the stage, the German rider has consolidated his first place in the mountain classification. He is now 7 points ahead of South African Louis Meintjes. Simon was once again on the podium with a strong desire to keep his polka-dot jersey until Paris.
