THE COFIDIS TEAM REVEALS ITS ROSTER FOR
TOUR DE FRANCE
The Cofidis team was built around two leaders: Frenchman Guillaume Martin and Italian Elia Viviani. The climber will be supported by Jesus Herrada, Nicolas Edet, Anthony Perez and Pierre-Luc Périchon while the sprinter will be supported by Christophe Laporte and Simone Consonni.

"We have to make sure that the Cofidis jersey is respected". This sentence of Guillaume Martin, entrusted to a journalist at the time of the Critérium du Dauphiné, will be the leitmotiv of the northern formation at the time of this Tour de France which will start this Saturday in Nice. The team, which has joined the World Tour this season, will be structured around two leaders: Guillaume Martin and Elia Viviani.

Because of the hard profile of this Grande Boucle, the leadership will be on the shoulders of Guillaume Martin (27 years old). Third in the CIC Mont Ventoux Dénivelé Challenge and the very tough Critérium du Dauphiné, the Normandy rider intends to go for a stage victory. He will also be the centerpiece of the Cofidis system for the overall classification.
Nicolas Edet (32 years old), Jesus Herrada (30 years old) - winner of a stage at the last Vuelta -, Anthony Pérez (29 years old) and the road captain Pierre-Luc Périchon (33 years old) will come to support him during the whole event.
In another register, Elia Viviani (31 years old), the Italian champion who has 78 victories among the professionals, will aim for a second stage victory on the roads of the Tour de France, one year after having raised his arms in Nancy. In the sprint stages, he will be able to count on Christophe Laporte, 7th in the French championships, and his partner Simone Consonni (25), with whom he is used to working.
In addition, the young and talented Spaniard Fernando Barcelo (24) and the experienced Cyril Lemoine (37) will be substitutes.

GUILLAUME MARTIN: " I'm very excited to participate in my 4th Tour de France. It will be a very special Grand Tour, especially since we thought for a long time that it wouldn't happen. It's a relief to be at the start with such a great team. Thanks to my good performances in August, I approach it with confidence and ambition. The main objective is to aim for a stage victory and, depending on the scenario, to try to get a good spot in the overall classification."
ELIA VIVIANI: "For a rider, it is always a great pride to be selected for the Tour de France, the most prestigious race of our sport. It means being among the best riders in the world. For me, it is an honor to be the leader of the team with Guillaume Martin. There will inevitably be a lot of emotion in wearing the jersey of a French team.
