Il direttore sportivo della LAMPRE-MERIDA, Philippe Mauduit, aveva sottolineato l'importanza per la squadra blu-fucsia-verde di affrontare le tappe del Tour de France in maniera propostiva e combattiva, cercando di avere i propri corridori presenti nelle fughe.
Nella 14^tappa, la Rodez-Mende di 178,5 km, i ciclisti della LAMPRE-MERIDA hanno rispettato le consegne, prestando attenzione alla serie di attacchi che hanno contraddistinto la prima parte della gara e riuscendo a essere rappresentati dallo spagnolo Rubèn Plaza (foto Bettini) nella fuga di 20 corridori che ha condotto la corsa fino al traguardo.
Gli attaccanti hanno vinto la resistenza del gruppo dopo un avvio di gara veloce, guadagnando circa 8' di vantaggio, sufficiente ai battistrada per giocarsi tra loro il successo sull'ascesa della Cote de la Croix Neuve con scollinamento a 1,5 km dal traguardo, posto nell'aeroporto di Mende: Plaza ha scalato l'ascesa con un ritmo regolare che, pur non consentendogli di seguire gli scatti degli scatenati francesi Pinot e Bardet, gli ha permesso di tagliare il traguardo in 7^posizione, a 32" dal vincitore Cummings, britannico capace di beffare il duo di giovani talenti transalpini.
In classifica generale, Froome ha consolidato la maglia gialla, mentre il miglior atleta della LAMPRE-MERIDA è Oliveira, 78°.
Questo il commento di Plaza, alla sua prima fuga nella Grande Boucle 2015: "E' stata una tappa molto intensa sin dai primi chilometri, con questo caldo tutto diventa più difficile.
Avevo promosso un primo tentativo assieme a un altro corridore e si erano accodati altri atleti, ma il gruppo non ci aveva lasciato spazio. Ho così raccolto le energie e ho continuato a pedalare nelle posizioni di testa del gruppo fino a quando è partita l'azione buona e con uno scatto mi sono unito agli attaccanti.
La fuga era ben assortita, essendo presenti atleti in rappresentanza di quasi tutte le squadre.
Durante la giornata ho avuto buone sensazioni, ma ero consapevole che la salita nel finale, con pendenze fino al 10%, avrebbe favorito maggiormente fuggitivi come Bardet, Pinot o Uran. Quindi, quando siamo giunti all'ascesa, non ho risposto agli scatti, salendo del mio passo, curando un possibile buon piazzamento: sono riuscito a concludere nei primi dieci".

The sport director from Team LAMPRE-MERIDA, Philippe Mauduit, had pointed out how important it was for the blue-fuchsia-green formation to be in the breakaways of the left stages of the Tour de France.
In the 14th stage, 178,5 km from Rodez to Mende, the cyclists of LAMPRE-MERIDA fulfilled the request, paying attention to every attack attempt in the first part of the race and being represented by the Spanish rider Rubèn Plaza (photo Bettini) in the main breakaway of the stage.
Twenty riders succeded in escaping from the bunch after a very fast first part of the stage and they obtaine da maximum advantage of 8', which was enough to allow the attackers to battle among themselves for the victories on the Cote de la Croix Neuve, which summit was at 1,5 km to the finish line in the Mende airport.
Pleza covered the climb pedaling on a regular pace, which did not allow him to reply to the attacks of the French duo Pinto and Bardet but gave him the opportunity to obtain the 7th place, at 32" to the winner Cummings, who got better of the French riders.
"It has been a very intense stage since the start and the heat made everything even harder - Plaza explained - I made an attack attempt in the very early kilometer and some riders joined me, but the peloton neutralized our action.
I remained in the head positions of the bunch and when a large group of riders escaped, I was ready to attack and to be iòn the main breakaway, in which most of the teams were represented.
I had good feelings during the stage, even if I was aware that the final hill, with 10% of degree, would have suit better other attackers such as Bardet, Pinot or Uran.
When we approach the final climb, I did not react to the series of attacks and I pedaled on a regular pace which allowed me to obtain a result in the top ten".
