Rubén Plaza e Josè Serpa sono stati all'altezza del prestigio della 20^tappa del Tour de France, la Modane-Alpe d'Huez di 110,5 km. Anzi, Plaza è stato un vero gigante, concludendo la prova al 10° posto, entrando così nel club dei grandi della scalata all'Alpe d'Huez 2015.
Lo spagnolo e il colombiano della LAMPRE-MERIDA hanno scalato la prima ascesa di giornata, la Croix de Fer, con i migliori corridori del gruppo, cercando a turno anche la sortita, convinti alfieri dello spirito combattivo che ha animato la formazione dei ds Mauduit e Pedrazzini nella seconda parte della Grande Boucle.
Entrambi i corridori blu-fucsia-verdi hanno anche allungato sul gruppo della maglia gialla lungo la discesa del Col de la Croix de Fer, in compagnia di quel Pinot che poi si è involato verso il sucesso lungo le rampe della salita finale dell'Alpe d'Huez.
Plaza ha sfoggiato l'ennesimo prova di qualità sull'ascesa conclusiva, trovando le energie e la lucidità per piazzarsi al 10° posto (+2'50"), mentre Serpa ha chiuso al 41° posto, (+8'04") in un drappello che comprendeva anche i compagni di squadra Valls e Oliveira.
Plaza è 30° nella classifica generale, nella quale Froome ha difeso la maglia gialla dagli attacchi di Quintana.

Rubén Plaza and Josè Serpa were up to the prestige of the 20th stage of the Tour de France, the Modane-Alpe d'Huez (110,5 km).
The Spanish rider was even a giant on the final climb of the Alpe d'Huez, obtaining the 10th place and becoming a member of the top 10 riders of the 2015 edition of the legendary climb.
Plaza and Serpa climbed the first ascent of the race, the Croix de Fer, in the top riders group, trying also several times to escape, demonstrating once again the fighting spirit of which characterized Team LAMPRE-MERIDA in the second part of the Grande Boucle.
Both blue-fuchsia-green cyclists attacked from the yellow jersey group on the downhill of the Col de la Croix de Fer with Pinot, who became the winner of the stage.
Plaza succeded in realizing a great performance on the Alpe d'Huez, crossing the finish line in 10th position at 2'50" to the winner.
Serpa was 41st at 8'04" , in the same group as the team mates Valls and Oliveira.
Plaza is 30th in the overall classification, which is led by Froome.
