TOUR DE FRANCE 2020
"VERY GOOD NEWS FOR THE CYCLING FAMILY"
For the first time since the expansion of the pandemic began, a sporting event of international scope is not cancelled this year and it is the most prestigious event on the cycling planet: the Tour de France. The Grande boucle will finally take place from August 29th to September 20th, and all the riders, staff, partners and all fans are really happy. The leaders of the Cofidis team comment this great news.

"REGAIN MOTIVATION IN EVERYDAY LIFE"
"We all know how important the Tour de France is. We needed a date in order to regain motivation on a daily basis. We hope to be able to compete in other races before the Grande boucle but we already know that we have to be ready on August 29th. Like all the riders, I'm looking forward to being able to train outdoors again in order to be at the start of the Grande Boucle in the best possible shape. But as professional sportsmen and women, we must continue to set an example, to respect the rules laid down so that we can continue to fight this battle together against this virus."

"A COLLECTIVE NEED TO VIBRATE"
"We're obviously very happy: it's very good news for cycling but also for the whole country! In a cycling season, we collectively need to vibrate and the Tour de France will contribute to that. We're going to have time to prepare for it and that will necessarily boost motivation. Apart from my injury in Argentina, I haven't ridden since Paris-Bourges last year so I really want to be able to race again. I would have been very disappointed if the Grande Boucle had been cancelled. Now we know what our main objective is and we can start preparing for it fully! »

"A RELIEF"
"That's a relief! Even if the health situation remains uncertain, the Tour de France will take place. For us riders, for the team, for the whole cycling economy it was almost vital! The difficulty of the current period was the uncertainty surrounding the 2020 season. We didn't know why we were training, what our objectives were. Having a precise date will allow us to do everything we can to be at our best at the end of August. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank ASO, the organisers, for bringing the Tour de France to life, whose social role has never been so important."

"A BEAUTIFUL MESSAGE OF HOPE"
"The announcement of ASO is very good news for the great family of cycling: the riders, the staff, the fans, the partners... It's a nice message of hope to know that the Tour de France will be able to take place! It gives a real source of motivation to all the riders, staff and partners. Now we know that we have to prepare ourselves both physically and psychologically for this great event. We will adapt to plan the summer accordingly and allow our runners to show up 100%. In addition, this change in the date of the Grande Boucle will involve the overhaul of the international calendar, which should enable us to compete in other major events by the end of the fall. For the cycling world, this is a real breath of fresh air! »
