Secondo piazzamento di fila per Davide Cimolai nelle prime 10 posizioni dell'ordine d'arrivo.
Il friulano della LAMPRE-MERIDA ha colto l'8°posto in una tappa nella quale è tornato a splendere il sole sul Tour de France, con una giornata luminosa e non troppo ventosa dedicata alla 6^frazione, la Abbeville-Le Havre di 191,5 km.
Dopo una lunga fuga di tre atleti, Quemeneur, Van Bielsen e Teklehaimanot, scattati subito dopo la partenza e ripresi in vista della fase finale di gara, la corsa è entrata nel vivo nell'ingresso di Le Havre.
Uno strappo imboccato a 1500 metri dal traguardo (Cote d'Ingouville, 850 mt al 7% di pendenza media) ha infatti messo in fila il gruppo: Cimolai ha saputo trovare un buon posizionamento nella parte di testa del plotone, risalendo con un buon passo sul lato sinistro della strada.
Nell'ultimo chilometro, il corridore della LAMPRE-MERIDA ha evitato per pochi centimetri di essere coinvolto nella caduta che è costata alla maglia gialla Tony Martin la frattura della clavicola (ha comunque raggiunto il traguardo), rilanciando la propria andatura fino a quando la strada ha spianato; a quel punto, Cimolai ha cercato di rimanere coperto, non avendo le energie per inseguire il contrattaccante Stybar (1° sul traguardo) e compiendo gli ultimi sforzi per assicurarsi l'8^posizione (in foto Bettini, Cimolai taglia il traguardo dietro a Van Avermaet).
Giornata tranquilla per Rui Costa: il portoghese ha potuto evitare di sollecitare le parti contuse nella caduta di lunedì.
"Che arrivo impegnativo, con lo strappo preso ad altissima velocità e il seguente falsopiano ad appesantire ulteriormente le gambe - ha commentato Cimolai - Avevo preso una buona posizione, difenderla è sempre difficile e si spendono energie, però sono riuscito a essere efficace quando la strada saliva. La caduta di Martin è avvenuta proprio al mio fianco, sono stato fortunato a evitarla, però ho perso un colpo di pedale. Quando la strada ha spianato, ho visto che non erano in tanti ad avere ancora energie da spendere, quindi nessuno si è mosso per inseguire un grande Stybar. Le gambe cominciavano a essere scariche, ho cercato di fare il migliore sprint possibile: speravo di ottenere qualcosa di più".

Second time in a row for Davide Cimolai in the top ten of the Tour de France 2015.
The Italian cyclist from LAMPRE-MERIDA obtianed the 8th place in a sunny day in the 6th stage, 191,5 km from Abbeville to Le Havre.
No crashes today in the bunch and a three riders breakaway (Quemeneur, Van Bielsen and Teklehaimanot) to lead the race from the early kilometers to the approach to Le Havre.
The Cote d'Ingouville (850 mt at 7% of average degree) was the key point of the race at 1500 mt to the arrival: Cimolai succeded in approaching the hill in the front position of the group and he performed an interesting progression on the left side of the road, avoiding in the last kilometer for few centimeters to get involved in the crash in which the yellow jersey Tony Martin broke his collarbone (nevertheless he crossed the finish line).
When the hill was over, in the legs of many of the top riders and of Cimolai the energies were almost over and this gave Stybar the opportunity to counter-attack and reaching the arrival for a solo victory. LAMPRE-MERIDA's sprinter was 8th (in photo Bettini, Cimolai approaching the arrival just behind Van Avermaet)
For Rui Costa, today stage was not complicated and he could avoid to give stress to the part of the body which were hit in the crash which occurred on Monday.
"The arrival was very demanding, the hill and the following sector to the finish line stole all the energies from my legs - Cimolai explained - I'm satisfied about hiw I approached the hill and how I succeded in having a good position in the group; then, I had to decrease the speed a little bit when Martin crashed just on my side, but I could be in the head group at the end of the hill.
In that moment, I realized that me, as many of my opponents, were empty of energies, but Stybar was great in attacking and he deserved the victory.
I was 8th, my target was a better result".
