Dylan Van Baarle brings Sidi to the podium of the Queen of the Classics
An unexpected action, the solo entry in the velodrome and the victory of the long-awaited Monument.

Maser, 17 April 2022 - After a second place in Flanders, the Dutch rider (Ineos Grenadiers) wins the 118th edition of Paris-Roubaix and gives Sidi the second victory in a row of the Hell of the North.

With just under 20km to go Dylan attacked at the front of the race and surprised with an action that allowed him to see his target get closer and closer as the gap to his pursuers steadily increased until it reached one minute as he entered the final cobbled sector.

Van Baarle entered the iconic velodrome alone and won the fastest edition to date, completing the 257.2km race in 5h 37' with a 1' 47" lead over Wout Van Aert (Jumbo Visma), 2nd, and Stefan Küng (Groupama - FDJ) 3rd.

"It's incredible. Once in the velodrome I looked to see if there were any other riders. When the team car arrived next to me then I knew it was true. It was crazy," Van Baarle said. "It's a Monument and I wanted to win one. Second in Flanders and then to win the Roubaix, I have no words."

Just like Sonny Colbrelli in 2021, to whom we wish the best of luck once again, Dylan Van Baarle relied on the Wire 2 to accomplish this achievement. A durable shoe, perfect for tackling the terrible cobbled sections. Stable and light, Wire 2 provides extremely precise adjustment as well as maximum stiffness thanks to the Vent-Carbon sole which optimizes power transfer between foot and pedal. These characteristics are essential for succeeding in particularly demanding conditions.
