MARIANNE VOS CENTRA IL BERSAGLIO A VIU'


 

L'incredibile fenomeno olandese, vincitrice di tre Giro Rosa, porta a casa la seconda tappa dell'edizione 2019, con una imperiosa volata iniziata a 200 m dall'impegnativo traguardo di Viù (Torino). La sua ultima vittoria di tappa sulle strade della Corsa Rosa fu un anno fa a Breganze (Vicenza), ma il podio della frazione odierna è tutto olandese, avendo lasciato alle spalle le connazionali Annemiek Van Vleuten (Mitchelton - Scott), vincitrice del Giro 2018, e Lucinda Brand (Team Sunweb).

La corsa parte forte e sulla salita del Colle del Lys un incidente coinvolge Elisa Longo Borghini (Trek-Segafredo) e la Maglia Rosa Katarzyna Niewiadoma, che ripartono senza problemi. Un attacco con Sofie De Vuyst (Park Hotel Valkenburg) e Antri Christoforou (Cogeas - Mettler - Look Pro Cycling) giunge in vetta al Colle del Lys e viene poi ripresa a fine discesa. Subito dopo scattano la tedesca di Alé - Cipollini Romy Kasper e la belga della Lotto Soudal Ladies Kelly Van den Steen che arrivano ad ottenere fino a tre minuti di vantaggio. Verso il traguardo volante di Lanzo Torinese la fuga comincia a perdere terreno e viene raggiunta a meno di 10 km dall'arrivo. Scatti e controscatti a ripetizione ma alla fine è Marianne Vos a trionfare sul traguardo di Viù. Ai piedi del podio la campionessa mondiale e olimpica in carica Anna Van der Breggen (Boels - Dolmans) e la migliore delle italiane Soraya Paladin (Alé - Cipollini). Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon - SRAM) mantiene la maglia rosa.

Domani si correrà la terza tappa, da Sagliano Micca a Piedicavallo, in Provincia di Biella, per 104.1 km.

MARIANNE VOS POINTS THE TARGET IN VIU'

The phenomenal dutch champion, winner of three Giro Rosa Iccrea, took the win of the stage 2 od the 2019 edition of the Giro Rosa, with a strong sprint in Viù (Turin). Her last stage win at the Giro Rosa was last year in Breganze (Vicenza), but today's podium was fully from the Netherlands, including Annemiek Van Vleuten (Mitchelton - Scott, winner of the Giro 2018, and Lucinda Brand (Team Sunweb).

The race started fast and on the Colle del Lys a crash involved Elisa Longo Borghini (Trek - Segafredo) and the Pink Jersey Katarzyna Niewiadoma, who restarted without problems. Sofie De Vuyst (Park Hotel Valkenburg) and Antri Christoforou (Cogeas - Mettler - Look Pro Cycling) passed on top of the Colle del Lys and have been chased at the end of the descend. A few kilometers later the German of Alé - Cipollini Romy Kasper and the Belgian Kelly Van den Steen attacked and reached a gap of about 3'. The breakaway started to lose the gap before the Intermediate Sprint in Lanzo Torinese it has been taken at less than 10 kms to go. Many counterattacks happened but Marianne Vos was the fastest in Viù. The Olympic and World Champion Anna Van der Breggen (Boels - Dolmans) and the best Italian of the stage Soraya Paladin (Alé - Cipollini) finished below the podium. Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon - SRAM) keeps the Pink Jersey.

The Stage 3 tomorrow goes from Sagliano Micca to Piedicavallo, near Biella, for 104.1 kms.
