GUERRIERA VAN DER BREGGEN SULL'ALTOPIANO DEL MONTASIO

E' la campionessa mondiale ed olimpica in carica la trionfatrice nella nona e penultima tappa del 30° Giro Rosa Iccrea (Gemona del Friuli - Chiusaforte/Malga Montasio, 125.5 km): sulla durissima salita finale Anna Van der Breggen ha preceduto di 17'' la connazionale e Maglia Rosa Annemiek Van Vleuten (Mitchelton - Scott) e di 1'38'' la sudafricana Ashleigh Moolman - Pasio (CCC-Liv), che ha battuto in uno sprint a due la australiana Amanda Spratt (Mitchelton - Scott).

Frazione a due facce quella svoltasi oggi sulle strade della Carnia friulana: protagoniste della prima ora sette atlete, Steigenga (BePink), Jasinska (Movistar), Neylan (Virtu Cycling), Dobrynina (Servetto - Piumate - Beltrami TSA), Barnes (Canyon - SRAM), Van den Steen (Lotto Soudal Ladies) e Boogaard (BTC City Ljubljana).
Le fuggitive arrivano all'imbocco della salita verso Sella Nevea con circa 1'30'' di vantaggio ma qui il gruppo comincia ad accellerare grazie all'impulso della Mitchelton - Scott. La squadra australiana della Maglia Rosa si mette in testa e riprende in brevissimo tempo il gruppo al comando e prosegue creando molta selezione.
Poco prima di Sella Nevea, a 10 km dal traguardo si avvantaggiano in cinque: Van Vleuten, Van der Breggen, Brand (Sunweb), Spratt e Moolman - Pasio. La Brand non tiene le ruote delle avversarie e si stacca poco dopo: si arriva al tratto più duro, con pendenze al 20% dove rimangono le due atlete di testa in classifica generale. Anche Katie Hall prova a tornare nel primo gruppo inseguitore quando in testa da sola si avvantaggia Van Vleuten che arriva ad ottenere fino a 17''. Ma improvvisamente si accende la luce ad Anna Van der Breggen che all'ultimo chilometro guadagna, recupera e stacca nettamente la Maglia Rosa vincendo la tappa. 

Anna Van der Breggen, 1° classificata di tappa, dichiara: "E' molto bello vincere qui, ho cercato di mantenere un ritmo regolare senza andare a recuperare Annemiek. Vedevo che nei metri finali era un po' in difficoltà e sono riuscita a batterla. Sono venuta qui per cercare di vincere il mio terzo Giro, ma sono comunque molto contenta per il secondo posto in classifica generale e per la tappa vinta oggi."

Domani il 30° Giro Rosa Iccrea avrà il suo epilogo con la tappa conclusiva da San Vito al Tagliamento a Udine, con nel finale lo strappo in pavè del Castello.

VAN DER BREGGEN IS A FIGHTER ON THE MONTASIO

The World and Olympic Champion is the solo winner in the stage 9, the penultimate of the 30th Giro Rosa Iccrea (Gemona del Friuli - Chiusaforte/Malga Montasio, 125.5 km): Anna Van der Breggen beated for 17'' the Pink Jersey Annemiek Van Vleuten (Mitchelton - Scott) and the South African Ashleigh Moolman - Pasio (CCC-Liv), who beated in a one-to-one sprint the Australian Amanda Spratt (Mitchelton - Scott). 

The stage on the roads of the Carnia Region had two different sides: seven riders were the protagonists in the first part, Steigenga (BePink), Jasinska (Movistar), Neylan (Virtu Cycling), Dobrynina (Servetto - Piumate - Beltrami TSA), Barnes (Canyon - SRAM), Van den Steen (Lotto Soudal Ladies) and Boogaard (BTC City Ljubljana). The breakaway arrived at the beginning of the climb to Sella Nevea with 1'30'' but here the peloton accelerated with the Mitchelton - Scott Team in the front. The Australian Team with Annemiek Van Vleuten made the pace and took in very few times the breakaway, and 10 kms from the finish just 5 riders were in the front. Van Vleuten, Van der Breggen, Brand (Sunweb), Spratt and Moolman - Pasio. Lucinda Brand could not stay with them and in the hardest part of the climb, with slopes at 20% just Van Vleuten with Van der Breggen were the stage leaders. Katie Hall tried to chase too when Van Vleuten was solo with 17''. Suddenly, at 1 km to go Anna Van der Breggen found the right time to chase, reach and beat Annemiek to become the stage winner.

Anna Van der Breggen, 1st place, says: "It's amazing to win here, I tried to keep a regular pace on the climb and not to chase Annemiek, but when I saw her in trouble I thought that I could win the stage so I gave my best. I arrived to with my third Giro, but the second place and the stage win today make me really happy."

The Giro Rosa Iccrea has tomorrow it's last day: the final stage from San Vito al Tagliamento to Udine will finish with a cobbled climb to the castle.

BUONGIORNO DA GEMONA DEL FRIULI/BUNDI' DA GLEMONE

La Carnia, storica regione nel cuore della Provincia di Udine, ospita la nona tappa del Giro Rosa Iccrea 2019. E' il giorno del durissimo arrivo a Malga Montasio dopo una tappa di 125.5 km con partenza da Gemona del Friuli.

Dopo il via dalla cittadina sconvolta dal terribile terremoto nel 1976 si percorrerà un circuito doppio intorno alla zona di partenza passando da comuni quali Buja, Osoppo, Majano e San Daniele del Friuli. Sempre a Gemona, ma dopo 75 km, è fissato il Traguardo Volante, per poi diriegersi verso nord risalendo la valle fino a Chiusaforte, dove parte la salita finale, pedalabile fino a Sella Nevea.

Qui, svoltando a sinistra, la strada si restringe e si inerpica per gli ultimi 4300 metri in cui si registrano pendenze anche al 20% verso il traguardo di Malga Montasio. E' l'arrivo decisivo per assegnare ormai in maniera praticamente definitiva la vittoria finale del 30° Giro Rosa Iccrea.

GOOD MORNING FROM GEMONA DEL FRIULI

The Carnia, historical region in the heart of the Province of Udine, hosts the Stage 9 of the Giro Rosa Iccrea 2019. It's the day of the terrible uphill finish of Malga Montasio, at 1546 m, after a stage of 125.5 km with start in Gemona del Friuli. After the begin in the town which was destructed due to the Earthquake in 1976, there is a double circuit passing through Buja, Osoppo, Majano and San Daniele del Friuli. After 75 km there is an intermediate sprint in Gemona, before going to north until Chiusaforte where the final climb begins. It's regular and easy until Sella Nevea: here, turning on the left, the road becomes narrow and it goes for the last 4300 meters with slopes until 20% until the finish in Malga Montasio. It's the decisive day to assign in the most probable way the final win of the 30th Giro Rosa Iccrea.
