Matteo Trentin continued his consistent sprinting form with 2nd place on stage 3 of the Criterium du Dauphine from Monistrol-sur-Loire›Le Coteau(194.1km).
The flat finale was favourable for the sprinters with yellow jersey Christophe Laporte (Jumbo-Visma) coming out on top. The arrival was not without chaos, with several crashes in the closing kilometres with all the UAE riders luckily staying upright before tomorrow’s important time-trial from Cours to Belmont-de-la-Loire(31.1km) where the GC will likely see a shake-up. Trentin originally crossed the line in 4th though disqualification would see him bumped up to 2nd.
UAE Team Emirates lead the teams classification as they set-out in search for wins in the crucial stages to come.
Trentin: “It was a hectic sprint but I was pretty well positioned and managed a good result in the end. There was a lot of bends in the last kilometre and I had good legs but up against the pure sprinters it’s always tough. We came into the race with some ambition for the GC so we should see that race heat up over the next few stages.”
