Three riders involved in crashes for the UAE Team Emirates at the Tour of Croatia.
At -35 km in the 3rd stage (237 km from Imotski to Zadar), an athlete slided on a roundabout and involved other 6 riders in the crash: two of them, Durasek and Niemiec, were from UAE Team Emirates.
The Polish cyclist quit the race and he was transferred to the hospital; the Croatian athlete reached the arrival (+2'32") and later he underwent the medical checks.
Dr Corsetti, head of the health staff of the UAE Team Emirates, was with the riders at the Zadar Hospital: "Niemiec suffered a non displaced left collarbone fracture, which had been already broken twice in the past. Moreover, he suffered a severe contusion on the left knee.
Durasek suffered a ribs contusion, x-ray did not detected evident fractures: tomorrow morning the rider and the team will decide weather he'll be able to participate in the stage or not".
At 2.800 meters to the arrival, while the peloton was heading to the massive sprint epilogue, Sacha Modolo (photo Bettini, at the start with Polanc) crashed in a right end turn.
The tv images showed UAE Team Emirates' rider on the ground, however Modolo stood up and reached the arrival.
He did not suffer injuries.
Being Modolo out, Ferrari participated in the sprint and he obtained the 6th place. Ruffoni won the stage.
The new leader of the general classification is Roson, Polanc is 6th at 27".

Tre corridori caduti nella giornata dell'UAE Team Emirates al Tour of Croatia.
A 35 km dal termine della 3^tappa, la Imotski-Zara (237 km), una scivolata di un atleta nelle prime posizioni del gruppo ha portato a terra altri 7 corridori, tra i quali il leader della corsa Durasek e il compagno di squadra Niemiec.
Lo scalatore polacco non ha potuto proseguire la tappa ed è stato trasferito in ospedale, mentre l'atleta croato è riuscito a raggiungere il traguardo (ritardo di 2'32"), per poi sottoporsi ad accertamenti.
Il Dottor Corsetti, responsabile dello staff sanitario della formazione emiratina, ha seguito i due corridori all'Ospedale di Zara: "Niemiec ha riportato la frattura composta della clavicola sinistra, già fratturata due volte in passato, oltre a una forte contusione al ginocchio sinistro.
Durasek soffre per una contusione dell'emicostato sinistro, senza evidenti segni di frattura alle radiografie: verrà valutata domattina la sua eventuale partecipazione alla quarta tappa".
A 2.800 metri dall'arrivo, con il gruppo era lanciato verso l'epilogo in volata, Sacha Modolo è scivolato a terra in una curva a destra nell'attraversamento del centro storico della città della Dalmazia.
Le immagini televisive hanno mostrato il velocista dell'UAE Team Emirates dolorante al suolo, ma Modolo (foto Bettini, alla partenza in maglia azzurra assieme a Polanc) ha potuto rialzarsi e raggiungere, seppur in ritardo, il traguardo.
Sospiro di sollievo, dato che la caduta non ha avuto conseguenze di rilievo.
Con il velocista designato fuori dai giochi per la volata, è stato reattivo Ferrari a portarsi nelle posizioni di testa e a cogliere un buon 6° posto nello sprint, vinto da Ruffoni.
Il comando della classifica generale è passato a Roson, con Polanc 6° a 27".
