TEAM BAHRAIN McLAREN TO PARIS-NICE
|
Saturday, 7th March 2020 – The 78th edition of the famous Paris-Nice race starts this Sunday. The Bahrain McLaren line-up will be lead by Bilbao and Teuns for the eight-day race. |
The race starts in the suburbs of Paris, with a flat, yet challenging stage. Through the next two stages, riders will cross the Department of Loiret and the plains of the Department of Cher. Stage four features an ITT in the City of Gold, Saint-Amand-Montrond. The next two stages, Gannat – La Côte-Saint-André and Sorgues – Apt can be quite unpredictable and a hard challenge for the favourites as well as their teammates. Before the finish in the Capital of the Côte d’Azur the riders will test their legs in the two mountain stages: Nice – Valdeblore La Colmiane and Nice – Nice. |
The team’s Sports Director Gorazd Štangelj is aiming for the GC: “Bahrain McLaren Team will have two experienced leaders in the first stages, working together. After the individual time trial on Wednesday, we will decide whether to keep this strategy until the end of the race or to choose one leader for the last stages. But of course, our primary goal is GC.” |
Dylan Teuns is looking forward to the challenge: “Paris – Nice is an important race on the program, and I’m looking forward to it, mostly because the course really suits me.” |
Pello Bilbao is also ready for the race: “Paris-Nice has been an important objective for me since the beginning of the season. Despite the issues with coronavirus, I’ve trained as normal, completely focused on the race. The beginning of the season was good, and for this race, I’m hoping to take another step towards being more consistent throughout the race. I am also very motivated to do a good TT. All in all, I will give 100 % and fight for the overall.” |
