TEAM BAHRAIN McLAREN ENDS 2020 RACING SEASON WITH LA VUELTA.

| Sunday, 8th November 2020 – This challenging 2020 cycling season came to an end with La Vuelta a España today. Team Bahrain McLaren finished the third Grand Tour of the season with another top ten results overall, as Wout Poels achieved the objective to score a top ten place in the General Classification, finishing in 6th place. |
| “I’m really happy and satisfied with that” The Dutch rider commented, “I would like to thank you, everybody, for the support all this last year, that was a very special season. I think we did with the team some really nice things”. |

| The parade stage to Madrid ended with a bunch sprint as expected, that saw Fred Wright taking 13th place. The young British rider was very motivated, after his good performance throughout the three weeks of his first Grand Tour ever. Along with Santiago Buitrago and Kevin Inkelaar, he can finally celebrate as a Vuelta 2020 finisher, that was a big goal for all of them. |
| “I’m really pleased to get to the end of my first Grand Tour,” Fred said, “I think I enjoyed it, although I suffered quite a lot, we worked really well as a team and we can be very happy with Wout 6th in GC. Now I’ll take some time off, but looking forward to the next season with the support of all our fans”. |

| Team Bahrain McLaren Team Principal Rod Ellingworth commented: |
| “It was a very long year, but we have finally made it. We’ve got reasons to believe it was a successful Vuelta. We lost three guys early on in the race: MohoriÄ on day 2 after a crash, Bole with bowel problems and Williams went home with a sore knee. The other five guys have done a very good job. Poels took 6th overall and he equalled his best result in a Grand Tour as also in 2017 he was 6th at the Vuelta, so next year he will want to be better that’s sure. |
| For the other riders, we’ve got three guys Buitrago, Inkelaar and Wright who were at their first Grand Tour and I think the main objective is always just to finish the race, so chapeau to them, good job. I think they learnt a lot on their journey. Davies was on his second Grand Tour and he did a good job as well. |
| All in all, I think it was a tough Vuelta. Many riders said it was the toughest Grand Tour they’ve ever ridden: Wout is at his 16 Grand Tour so he knows what he’s talking about. |
| It was a very tough season, when we think about the days of racing we’ve done, we achieved quite a lot. I think as a first-year as a team together has been pretty impressive, I’m super happy. |
| I would like to say thanks to all the fans, all our partners in particular that supported us throughout what was a very challenging year. Let’s stay optimistic for next year. We’ve got some really big plans. I’m super excited. Please everybody follow us, keep up-to-date and let’s lookout for the new jersey for the next year. See you on the road”. |
