| Sanremo, 20th March – The 112th edition of the Milano-Sanremo respected the traditions featuring its finale full of adrenaline and high speed towards the finish line in Via Roma. |
Team Bahrain Victorious was active with both our two key riders Matej MohoriÄ and Sonny Colbrelli, battling in the front group that came to a reduced bunch sprint.

As expected, the decisive move in the first and longest (299km Monument of the season was made on the Poggio, by World Champion Julian Alaphilippe, but proved unsuccessful for him to take the win. Instead, as often happens in Sanremo, the winner was an unpredictable one: Jasper Stuyven (Trek-Segafredo), who chose the right moment to attack and kept enough advantage to hold off the sprinters.

“When they attacked on Poggio we tried to follow with Colbrelli and then on the descent we came back” Matej MohoriÄ says, describing how the final unfolded “We were on the limit of the chase and we couldn’t do a proper sprint. Anyway, Sonny could take a top ten result, finishing in 8th place and I was 11th. We tried but without success. Maybe, next time”.

Alberto Volpi, Team Bahrain Victorious Sports Director: “Our riders and Colbrelli especially, gave the maximum in the finale. They spent energy to go back to the group that attacked on the Poggio and due to that it was not easy to have legs strong enough for fighting for the podium. But they put on a strong performance and having a top ten result, plus another place just out the top ten in a Monument race is something we can be happy with”.
