MIKEL LANDA 3RD AT GP INDUSTRIA & ARTIGIANATO |
Larciano, Sunday, March 7th – GP Industria & Artigianato, the race characterized by four ascents of San Baronto and one of the classic climbs of Tuscany, ended in a small group sprint. |
After the long breakaway of three riders, the race got underway at the second pass of San Baronto when the group began to move. On the penultimate lap, eight riders launched an attack, with our young rider Buitrago amongst them. In the most challenging part of the climb, an attack by Quintana (Arkea Samsic) split the group to four, with Landa latching on to the move. It came down to a four-rider sprint, with Landa finishing behind Mauri Vansevenant (Deceuninck-Quick-Step) and Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo).

Mikel Landa commented on his performance: ”I am happy. It was a challenging climb. We worked well as a team. In the end us four riders we succeeded to split from the group for the finish. I feel better day by day.”

Sports Director Gorazd Štangelj said: “We tried many possibilities to conclude this race with a victory. We knew it would not be easy. All the riders did a great job. This was the maximum that we are bringing home. We have seen that the team is in very good condition. They understand what their job is, and Mikel completes the mission with the podium. We are satisfied with the result.”
