Giulio Ciccone extends contract through 2027

Trek-Segafredo is thrilled to announce that it has reached an agreement with Giulio Ciccone to extend the Italian’s contract through 2027. Ciccone joined the Trek family back in 2019 and wasted no time in announcing himself to the world stage with a memorable stage win at the Giro d’Italia and a stint in the coveted Maillot Jaune at his first Tour de France.

With the backing of Trek-Segafredo since his arrival, Giulio has grown into one of the Team’s leaders – a quality that he shows on and off the bike.

2023 has been Giulio’s most consistent campaign so far, with two victories arriving in Spring amongst a series of impressive GC results. The Abruzzo native was in the form of his life ahead of the Giro d’Italia, which started in his home town, however sickness just days beforehand ended his dream before it had begun.

Giulio recovered, refocused, and recaptured his early season form. Now with his sight set on the upcoming national championships and the Tour de France, Giulio returned to competition at the Critérium du Dauphiné, the traditional last test before La Grand Boucle. A captivating victory in the final stage gave Giulio the confirmation he came looking for – he’s ready to fight for the Italian tricolore and take on the Tour.

Speaking of the contract extension, Giulio Ciccone said:

"The desire to extend my contract until 2027 is not just a professional choice, but a life choice. I have decided to spend the best years of my career with this Team, this group, this family. My relationship with Trek will extend to nine years and I couldn’t be happier."

"A unique relationship has been created between me and the Team. From 2019 to present we have built a bond of trust that is now bearing wonderful fruits. It was not always like this, because before we got to where I am now, we also went through troubled times. But mutual trust has never been lacking. Thanks to that, I have always managed to pick myself up and come out of the most complicated moments of my life as a rider."

"The new sports project we’re approaching is an opportunity for me and the Team to confirm our common desire to pursue new and important goals. We are both ambitious and eager to show our value, to grow further. I'm super excited about it."

"In the end, let me say thanks. To Trek, which from day one has allowed me to be myself in and out of racing. To the management, to all the staff, to my teammates. And last but of course not least, to Luca Guercilena, the person who always had the right words for me and never, ever stopped believing in me."

General Manager Luca Guercilena said:

"We believed in Giulio from the very first moment. He is a pure talent, his extravagant approach to cycling makes him a unique character in the sport. He has competition in his DNA, he loves winning, and whatever the race, he puts on a show. Giulio is a fascinating rider, a bit old-fashioned, and that is why we want to hold on to him. Now, the time for maturity has come. Together, we have set big goals for the future. We will do whatever it takes to give him the best support and to see him bring out all his talent."
