| The transition from the spring Monuments to the Grand Tours is marked by Eschborn-Frankfurt, which is back to its traditional date of May 1st. |
The Radklassiker is Germany’s most prestigious classic and usually attracts the best sprinters in the world. However, its course is selective and often ends up in a restricted group sprint.

| After the start in Eschborn and a first crossing of the finish line in Frankfurt, the 183.9 km route runs through the iconic hilly region of the Taunus, with the peloton facing eight climbs: the Feldberg, the Billtalhöhe, the Ruppertshain twice and the Mammolshain four times, for a total elevation gain of 2,713 m. The course then heads to the finish in Frankfurt’s city centre, with the last 40 km flat and three laps of a final circuit 6.7 km long. |
“Given the course, the German Classics trophy has always been a selective race”, Enrico Poitscke, Bahrain Victorious Sports Director, says. “In recent years, it has always ended in a sprint from a reduced group, and we aim to be there to contest it with our leader Phil Bauhaus, supported by Jasha Sütterlin. They both will ride on home soil. Therefore, they will have extra motivation to achieve the team’s goal: to try to win the race with Phil.
The co-leader will be Fred Wright, who, alongside Edoardo Zambanini, will focus on the attacks, especially in Mammolshain. Staying in a good position on the climbs on the Taunus course will be fundamental. Yukiya Arashiro, Chun Kai Feng and Filip Maciejuk will be precious helpers in the different race phases.”

| The German sprinter Phil Bauhaus shares his thoughts ahead of the Eschborn-Frankfurt: “It’s one of the few races in Germany, so I’m super motivated as a German rider. It’s not at all an easy race. It’s like every classic race, a challenging one. The hilly circuit is tough for me, but I prepared well for this race, and I’m confident I can do a good race. If I survive the hard part, I will be confident again for the sprint and hope to get a nice result. We have in the team also a rider like Fred, who did a super good classic campaign and Jasha, who is super strong. Therefore, we have some cards to play, but I will try to be in the final and give my best!” |
