| BAHRAIN VICTORIOUS IN HUNT OF TIRRENO-ADRIATICO TRIDENT |
Coinciding with Paris-Nice, Bahrain Victorious will participate in another WorldTour stage race, on Italian soil, the Tirreno-Adriatico (6th-12th March). |
| Known as the “Race of the Two Seas”, it crowns the general classification winner with the iconic trident as a prize. To hunt one of the most iconic trophies in professional cycling, Bahrain Victorious will line up Mikel Landa, who was on the podium for two consecutive years in 2021 and 2022, taking 3rd place. |
“We rely on Mikel, his excellent shape and high ambitions for this race”, Sports Director Gorazd Stangelj comments. “He arrives at this event very well prepared physically and mentally. Recently, he went to Teide for a high-altitude training camp after the good start to the season he had. This shows he is on the right track to do well this upcoming racing week. He likes Tirreno’s course, as certified by the results he took, not only the overall podium in the past editions but also a stage win in 2018 in Sassotetto”.

| Sassotetto will also be the finish of this year’s queen stage on day 5. It will feature a demanding final 50km (12.8km at 7.1%). The days before will be mainly for the sprinters: stage 2, including a short climb in the finale, that could make some trouble to the fast wheels and stage 3, where a proper bunch sprint is expected. Stage 4 should be a reduced bunch sprint, as the finish is punchy, while the opening day is an individual time trial. |
| “The result of the time trial will define our tactics for the race”, Stangelj explains. “The TT course is the same as last year, only 1.5km shorter, without corners and narrow roads, but a U-turn after 4.8km, around the half. We have a rider like Damiano Caruso, who is a specialist, and then he will give his precious support to our leader in the late phase of the race. To help our captain, we also have another strong rider, our young Santiago Buitrago. Both are in good shape. The day after the queen stage, we have a typical Tirreno stage, with the last 90km on a circuit with steep climbs and up and down on the Marche walls all day. |
| Regarding the sprint days, we will contest them with our sprinter Phil Bauhaus. He was also already victorious on Tirreno’s road, as he won last year’s final stage, which will be the same on this edition, with a day for the sprinters in San Benedetto del Tronto. To lead out Phil, we have Nikias Arndt and Andrea Pasqualon, our road captain, who, together with Fran Miholjevic, will give their fundamental general support to achieve our aims for this Tirreno: hunt stages and jump onto the final podium with Mikel.” |
