Team Bahrain Merida rider Domenico Pozzovivo will undergo a new surgery, the first one to treat the complex elbow fracture. The surgery is scheduled on Friday morning at the Lugano Regionale Civico Hospital, where the Italian rider has been airlifted from the Cosenza’s Hospital today.
Wednesday, 14th August - Pozzovivo already underwent a 5-hour surgery on Monday, to stabilize the lower leg fracture with an external rod system and the arm fracture, after he was seriously injured in a training accident, due to a collision with a car.
Team Bahrain Merida medical staff is in constant contact with the medical staff that is taking care of Pozzovivo. They talked to the surgeon Dr. Christian Candrian - orthopaedic specialist of Lugano Regionale Civico Hospital – and he’s confident in Domenico’s possibility to come back on bike. Pozzovivo is confident as well that he will recover well to getting back to racing.
