Treviglio (Ita), 2015, June 14th - Tony Longo (Bianchi i.idro DRAIN) celebrated a breathtaking overall win at Alpentour Trophy, four-day stage-rage held in Schladming (Austria) from Thursday to Sunday, June 11th-14th. The Italian equipped with Methanol 27 SL climbed over the former leader Alban Lakata being runner up in the final uphill TT, one second behind Damiano Ferraro.
Longo covered the 14-km time trial in 52'52"09, 25 seconds faster than Lakata (53'17"07), going to top the GC in 9 hours 14 minutes and 41 seconds, one second better than the Austrian rider. Roel Paulissen rounded out the podium (+1:35) ahead of Samuele Porro (+7:08). "I was really confident about my chances in this final stage, because I felt much better. I'm so happy I took my first seasonal victory in such an important international race" Longo commented.
Crashed during the opening stage, Leonardo Paez did not start in the uphill TT for precautionary reasons.
TEOCCHI AND ROSSI SCORE DOUBLE IN ITALY
Under 23 Chiara Teocchi and junior Giorgio Rossi scored a Bianchi i.idro DRAIN's double in a rainy and muddy XC Piemonte's tenth round in Calosso (North-Eastern italy), winning Women and Juniors' series respectively. Finally, youngster Marco Gozzi placed seventh at XC Youth Italian Cup's in Brentonico (Northern Italy).
