GIOELE BERTOLINI E GIORGIA MARCHET ON FIRE A NOVE MESTO: RIMONTA FOLLE TRA LE PIETRE E DOPPIA TOP 20

Quarantesima e quarantasettesima posizione. Da qui sono scattati Gioele Bertolini e Giorgia Marchet nella gara di Nove Mesto, terzo atto della Coppa del Mondo. Ma i due biker del Trinx Factory Team non volevano darsi per vinti e, giro dopo giro, sono riusciti a risalire la china fino a centrare una clamorosa top 20.

La prima a firmare l’impresa è stata Giorgia Marchet, autrice di un primo giro folle che le ha permesso di guadagnare oltre 20 posizioni.

Lungi dal pagare lo sforzo, la bellunese (nella foto di Maxime Schmid) ha continuato del suo passo, tagliando il traguardo in 17° posizione e confermando il feeling con il tracciato ceco.

«È la mia prima top 20 in Coppa del Mondo nella specialità Xco, dopo il 19° posto nello short track a Petropolis. Sono contentissima e mi darei una pacca sulla spalla. Sono partita bene e oggi la gamba girava come volevo. Nell’ultimo giro in discesa mi facevano male tutti i muscoli, ma ho tenuto duro ed è arrivato questo 17° posto».

Gara più complessa per Eva Lechner che, dopo il 24° posto nello short track del venerdì, ha chiuso al 33° posto la gara di domenica.

A proposito di short track, venerdì il nervoso tracciato aveva respinto Gioele Bertolini (nella foto di Maxime Schmid), 37° al traguardo. Questo lo ha costretto a partire dalle retrovie domenica. Ma, imitando la compagna di squadra, anche il valtellinese si è superato, con due prime tornate che lo hanno visto risalire dal 41° al 25° posto. Preludio di una rimonta che gli ha regalato il 19° posto.

«Nove Mesto è un tracciato che ti permette di recuperare posizioni, sia in salita che in discesa. Ho lasciato sfogare gli altri nella tornata di lancio, poi ho trovato il mio passo e ho iniziato a rimontare. Mi sono trovato a mio agio in discesa e in salita la gamba rispondeva. Così facciamo un ulteriore passo in avanti rispetto alle prime due prove di Coppa del Mondo».

Se questi sono i risultati degli Elite, la trasferta ceca ha arricchito il bagaglio tecnico dei più giovani.

Tra gli Under 23, chi se l’è cavata meglio è stata Noemi Plankensteiner, scattata in 33° posizione e capace di risalire fino alla 20° piazza. Per l’altoatesina la soddisfazione di essere la sesta tra le ragazze del 1° anno in categoria.

In campo maschile, Filippo Agostinacchio ha chiuso all’83°, con Andrea Colombo 121°.

Nella foresta di Nove Mesto, tra le radici e le pietraie dell’impegnativo tracciato, si sono cimentati anche i due junior del team, che in questa occasione vestivano la maglia azzurra della nazionale.

Fabio Bassignana ha dimostrato le sue qualità chiudendo al 13° posto, migliore degli atleti italiani. Piazzamento simile per Valentina Corvi, quattordicesima. La valtellinese, che è al primo anno nella categoria, è risultata essere quinta tra le ragazze del 2005.

GIOELE BERTOLINI AND GIORGIA MARCHET ON FIRE AT NOVE MESTO: AMAZING COMEBACK AND DOUBLE TOP20

Fortieth and forty-seventh position. From here Gioele Bertolini and Giorgia Marchet took off in the Nove Mesto race, World Cup third round. But the two Trinx Factory Team bikers didn't want to give up and, lap after lap, they managed to get back until a sensational top 20.

The first to sign the feat was Giorgia Marchet (in Maxime Schmid’s photo). Her first lap was super fast and allowed her to gain over 20 positions.

Then Giorgia didn’t pay the effort and was able to keep the pace, ending in 17° position.

«This is my World Cup top 20 in Xco. That’s why I am super happy. My first lap was really good and my shape was perfect. Of course, in last lap I was done, but I hang in there and I reached a good result».

Difficult race for Eva Lechner who, after 24th place in the short track on Friday, ended Sunday's race in 33rd place.

Speaking about xcc, on Friday the track betrayed Gioele Bertolini (in Maxime Schmid’s photo), 37th at the finish line. This forced him to start from the back on Sunday. But, like his teammate, Gioele did his best, with two first laps that saw him rise from 41st to 25th place. Comeback completed with the final 19th place.

«Nove Mesto is a track in which you can overtake and rise from the back, thanks to the uphills and downhills sections. I didn’t want to start too fast, so I decided to do my first lap without over-revving. Minute by minute, I found my pace, starting my comeback. I felt confident and comfortable both in downhill and uphill sections. We have done a further step forward compared to the first two World Cup races».
 

But in Nove Mesto raced the U23’s and the juniors too, who could enriched their technical background.

Among U23’s, another great performance for Noemi Plankensteiner: she sprinted from 33° place but she was able to overtake 13 rivals ending 20th. The 19 years old biker was the sixth among the first years athletes.

In the men's race, Filippo Agostinacchio finished 83rd, with Andrea Colombo 121st.

In Nove Mesto forest, two juniors raced too, in this case with the national jersey.

Fabio Bassignana showed his quality ending in 13rd place, first among the Italians. Good placement for Valentina Corvi too. Valentina, in her first year in this category, finished 14th, fifth among the youngest.
