ALTRA TAPPA VALDOSTANA PER IL TRINX FACTORY TEAM. BERNARDI: «A LA THUILE INIZIA LA VOLATA VERSO L’ITALIANO»

Lo scorso anno i sentieri di La Thuile gli regalarono uno dei piazzamenti più prestigiosi della sua giovane carriera: la medaglia d’argento al campionato italiano cross country eliminator. E ora Cristian Bernardi è pronto a schierarsi di nuovo al via della gara valdostana, per di più supportato da una buona condizione, come dimostrato dal quinto posto conquistato una settimana fa in quel di Courmayeur.

«Ma sabato sarà tutta un’altra cosa, sia rispetto
all’Italiano Xce del 2022, sia rispetto alla prova di
sabato scorso», precisa il biker di Pederobba (nella foto di Maxime Schmid). «Il percorso di La Thuile è esigente e ricco di insidie e la concorrenza sarà di prim’ordine, sia per me che per i miei compagni di squadra. Del resto si entra negli ultimi 50 giorni che portano all’Italiano di Maser».

Si può però dire che lei sembra sorretto da una buona condizione?

«Sì, dopo un avvio di stagione in cui non provavo le giuste sensazioni le cose stanno migliorando. Con Luca Bramati abbiamo lavorato molto, sia sul lato atletico che su quello mentale. Da metà aprile in avanti le cose sono migliorate».

Undicesimo a Esanatoglia (quarto tra gli U23), quinto a Courmayeur e in mezzo la prova di Coppa del Mondo a Nove Mesto...

«In Repubblica Ceca non è andata bene: era la mia seconda prova di Coppa e mi sono sentito un pesce fuor d’acqua. Ho sofferto la prova, ma ho maturato esperienza in vista delle prossime tappe: ho imparato che a quei livelli non puoi avere esitazioni, devi essere sempre aggressivo al punto giusto, altrimenti ti passano sopra le orecchie».

Quanto è importante potersi confrontare con Gioele Bertolini ed Eva Lechner?

«Sono campioni con un bagaglio di esperienza impressionante; solo standogli a fianco si può imparare; io sto cercando di farlo in ogni momento: in gara, nel pre gara e anche nel post gara. Del resto questo è il mio primo anno a questo livello».

Quando ha iniziato a correre?

«A tredici anni, sempre in mtb. I primi risultati due anni fa con il Sogno Veneto, con i titoli veneti, il podio all’Italiano e il debutto in Coppa del Mondo in Val di Sole».

Cosa è cambiato?

«Tutto. Sono cambiato fisicamente, mentalmente e con il passaggio a Trinx abbiamo limato i dettagli: gli esercizi a corpo libero, la palestra e ora sono seguito anche da un nutrizionista».

E su cosa dovrà lavorare nei prossimi mesi?

«Su ogni cosa. Il livello si alza continuamente, guai ad abbassare l’attenzione. I miei punti deboli sono le discese tecniche e la gestione delle gare, ma acquisendo esperienza migliorerò».

Oltre a Cristian Bernardi, sabato 3 giugno a La Thuile saranno in gara anche gli junior Marco Bramati, Daniele Corvi, Marco Guercilena (al via alle 10), la junior Valentina Corvi, e l’Elite Giorgia Marchet (start alle 12) oltre all’Elite Gioele Bertolini (che gareggerà alle 14).

Domenica invece sarà una grande giornata per Eva Lechner (nella foto zlatansm) al via a Finale Ligure della seconda prova della Coppa del Mondo Marathon.

Dopo il debutto in quel di Nove Mesto, con la bolzanina che si è giocata le posizioni più importanti per i primi 70 km, la 31 volte campionessa italiana si metterà nuovamente alla prova sul tracciato ligure, che misurerà 100 km, con un dislivello di 3800 metri.

ANOTHER STAGE IN VALLE D’AOSTA FOR THE TRINX FACTORY TEAM. BERNARDI: «THE PATH TOWARDS ITALIANS BEGINS IN LA THUILE»

 1st June 2023 - Last year the tracks in La Thuile gave him one of the most prestigious results of his young career: the silver medal at the Italian cross country eliminator championship. And now Cristian Bernardi is ready to line up again at the start of the race; and his shape seems to get better and better, as demonstrated by the fifth place conquered a week ago in Courmayeur.

«But Saturday will be a completely different race,
compared to the Italian Xce of 2022 and the last
competition», explains the biker from Pederobba
(in the photo by Maxime Schmid). «The track in La Thuile is demanding and full of pitfalls; moreover the opponents will be superstrong, both for me and for my teammates. After all, we enter the last 50 days that lead to the Italian Championship in Maser».

We can say that your shape is improving...

«Yes, after a beginning of the season quite complicated, things are getting better. I and Luca Bramati worked a lot, both on the athletic and mental side. From mid-April onwards my feeling has been good».

Eleventh in Esanatoglia (fourth among the U23s), fifth in Courmayeur; in the middle the World Cup round in Nove Mesto...

«It didn't go well in the Czech Republic: it was my second round of the World Cup and I felt like a fish out of water. I endured the race, but I gained experience: I learned that at those levels you can't have hesitations, you must always be aggressive at the right point, otherwise the opponents overwhelm you».

How important is it to stay close to Gioele Bertolini and Eva Lechner?

«They are champions with an impressive wealth of experience; next to them I can learn a lot: during the race, in the pre-race and also in the post-race».

When did you start running?

«At thirteen, always on mtb. The first results two years ago with the Sogno Veneto, with the regional titles, the Italian podium and the debut in the World Cup in Val di Sole».

What has changed for you?

«Everything. I have changed physically, mentally and with the transferred to the Trinx Factory Team I have refined the details: I am also followed by a nutritionist».

And what will you have to focus on in the coming months?

«Over everything. The level rises continuously. Certainly my weak points are the technical descents and the management of the races, but race by race I will gain experience and improve».

In addition to Cristian Bernardi, in La Thuile will race the U19 Marco Bramati, Daniele Corvi, Marco Guercilena (starting at 10 am), the junior Valentina Corvi and the Elite Giorgia Marchet (12 am) and the Elite Gioele Bertolini (who will compete at 2pm).

Sunday will be a great day for Eva Lechner (photo credit zlatansm), who will be at the start of the second round of the Marathon World Cup in Finale Ligure.

After the debut in Nove Mesto, with the biker from Bolzano who was able to fight for the most important positions for the first 70 km of the race, the 31-time Italian champion will put herself to the test again on the Ligurian track, which will measure 100 km, with a vertical drop of 3800 meters.
