Eroica South Africa, domani a Montagu
 
Forti della lunga storia del ciclismo del Sud Africa domani a Montagu arriva il momento de L’Eroica, un omaggio alla cultura ciclistica su strada che si svolgerà attraverso il bellissimo Karoo intorno alla strade sterrate a nord di Montagu, nel Western Cape. 
Saranno quasi 150 ciclisti ad inaugurare la prima edizione.
I percorsi
Keisie - 140 km
Il nostro percorso più lungo ci porta a nord-est e al Passo Ouberg, dopo di che si parte in direzione ovest intorno alle montagne Langeberg - Wes . Questo percorso diventa veramente selvaggio prima di incontrare l'asfalto per pedalare di nuovo verso sud. Si transita per Rooihoogte, poi si percorre un breve tratto di strada poderale, seguito dal Passo Burgers.Infine un veloce ritorno in città.
Kogman - 90 km
Questa opzione segue il percorso 50 km Kingna fino a tornare in città ma proseguire dritto verso nord –ovest, nella zona di Baden. Qui si fa un po' più difficile con alcune salite ripide e discese impegnative. Ma c'è una grande ricompensa; la diga di Pietersfontein. 
Kingna - 50 km
Il nostro percorso più breve segue sterrati agricoli lungo la valle del fiume Kingna ed una speciale fermata alla distilleria Kingna. Poi, dopo un breve tratto sulla strada asfaltata R62 , si torna su strade secondarie e si arriva direttamente alla sede del festival.
Le pedalate dalle ore 08:00 in poi mentre il festival durerà tutto il giorno. Al villaggio del festival ci sarà ottimo cibo, birra artigianale. Inoltre vini locali. Ci sarà musica dal vivo. Quindi vecchie biciclette in mostra, una mostra d'arte e molto intrattenimento. La festa durerà fino a notte fonda con una grande varietà di band locali. Il giorno dopo, un giro informale in città prima di dire arrivederci a Eroica South Africa 2017.

Eroica South Africa: tomorrow in Montagu 
 
With South Africa's rich cycling history, it's high time to bring the celebrated Italian Eroica event to African soil. The event  celebrate road cycling culture through the beautiful Karoo around the dirt roads North of Montagu in the Western Cape. Set aside the weekend of 23 April 2016 for bicycle-talk, lots of riding, wine-drinking, great food and music.
We are almost 150 riders for our inaugural year! This is great, but of course it’s out first time, so we want everything to go smoothly
Routes:
Keisie - 140km
Our longest route takes us north-east and up the gruesome Ouberg Pass, after which we start heading west around the Langeberg-Wes mountains. This gravel route gets really isolated and wild before we meet the tarmac and start heading south again, first down the Rooihoogte Pass, then a short section of farm road, followed by the Burgers Pass, and a fast roll into town. Providing there’s no headwind of course!  
Kogman - 90km 
This option follows the 50km Kingna route until you get back into town, and head straight out again towards the north-west and into the Baden area. Here it gets beautiful, and a little tougher with some steep gravel climbs and downhills. But there is a great reward - after a short portage section with some thorns and singletrack, you’ll arrive at the remote Pietersfontein dam. The brave and hot amongst you can clamber down to the water for a swim before descending the dam wall down some narrow concrete steps. You’ll have to carry your bike, so please be careful. From the bottom you start your return to town. 
Kingna - 50km 
Our shortest route follows gravel farm roads along the pastoral Kingna river valley to the east, to a special ‘water’ stop at the Kingna Distillery. Then after a short stint on the R62 tar road, you get back onto farm roads all the way into town, and straight to the festival venue for some good food. 
The rides will start from 08:00 and  as riders are coming in throughout the day, the festival will be in full swing. There will be great food, craft beer, local wines and all kinds of snacks for sale as riders arrive back at the KWV festival venue. There will be live music, old bicycles on display, art exhibitions, and all kinds of entertainment. The celebration will last into the night, with a great lineup of local bands, and of course some great dinner options on offer. For those who didn’t enjoy too much wine the night before, there will be coffee and rusks in the morning, and a casual ride around town before saying goodbyes until Eroica 2017.
