Gaiole in Chianti (SI), 2 luglio 2016 - Domani, domenica 3 luglio, Valkenburg ospiterà la prima edizione di Eroica Limburg. Al via sono annunciati circa 500 ciclisti che si distribuiranno lungo tre diversi percorsi tra Olanda, Belgio e Germania, Una parte del percorso sarà su strade non asfaltate, scelte dagli organizzatori tra le più belle del Benelux.

Come da tradizione tutti i partecipanti saranno in sella a biciclette prodotte prima del 1987 e le divise dei ciclisti avranno uno stile retrò e richiameranno i colori delle maglie dei grandi campioni. Tutti questi elementi  insieme concorreranno a trasformare la regione di Limburg nella zona più colorata e retrò nel Benelux. 
Domani la zona di partenza ed arrivo sarà il centro di Valkenburg, cittadina di grandi campioni e grandi corse, che per tutto il week end accoglie i ciclisti con un vero e proprio festival retrò. 

Particolarmente suggestivi sono i tre percorsi scelti che misurano 50, 100 e 160 km ed hanno la caratteristica di attraversare ben tre Paesi: Olanda, Belgio e Germania. Si percorrono strade normalmente non aperte ai ciclisti, ad esempio la strada che transita per la fabbrica di birra Wijlre che per la prima volta, nei suoi 675 anni di storia,  aprirà le porte della propria azienda ai ciclisti. Poi le famose grotte di Valkenburg e la splendida vista sulla campagna di Limburgo da Epen, il punto dove si incontrano i tre Paesi sopra le colline di Eys e Wittem che ricordano molto l’Eroica e la Toscana. 
Tutti i partecipanti potranno vivere l’atmosfera tipica de L’Eroica con i ristori d’epoca che proporranno i cibi tradizionali della regione.
 
 
Tomorrow in Valkenburg: the first edition of Eroica Limburg. Pedal through the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany along world-famous cycling routes
 
The first-ever Eroica Limburg bicycle tour will be ridden on Sunday 3 July 2016. Three stunning and unique routes will depart from the global cycling hub of Valkenburg, passing through Belgium and Germany as well as the Netherlands. The route features not only the more familiar paved roads, but also includes an off-road section through the most beautiful part of the Benelux region. And of course, the event will be completely suffused with the special, historical Eroica style and atmosphere.

All the participants will be riding on bicycles manufactured before 1987. In addition, we will be asking everyone to wear an outfit to go with their retro bike and hunt down some of the colourful jerseys from the early days of cycling. In the first weekend of July, Limburg will be transformed into the most colourful retro zone in the Benelux.

The start and finish area, in the centre of Valkenburg, will be given a full retro-style makeover for the occasion with food trucks, an old-fashioned Belgian 'mirror tent' (an art-nouveau travelling dance hall decorated with mirrors and stained glass), regional produce, the bandstand, a fair featuring antique cycling equipment and performances by old and new artists to complete the festival atmosphere.
The participants will be surprised at various nostalgic stops along the route, with drinks and dishes from the region, which will put a smile on their faces. And we can already tell you now that the tour will not be timed. So go at your own pace while you enjoy the surroundings, take photos and travel back in time with us!
 
Three routes
Valkenburg is the starting point of three cross border routes: 50, 100 and 160 km. These routes cover paved and unpaved roads through Limburg in the Netherlands, into Belgium and Germany. The routes are different from the established ones of other rides. Participants will pass places and locations that are normally off-limits to cyclists. For example, the ‘Brand’ beer brewery in Wijlre will open its doors to cyclists for the first time in its 675 years long history. Valkenburg's famous caves are part of the route too. And last but not least, the stunning views of the Limburg countryside at Epen, the tri country point and the 'Tuscan' hills of Eys and Wittem will also be included. 

All participants can use the facilities en route. Refreshments reminiscent of days gone by will be offered at the nostalgic rest stops. There will be toilets on-site, as well as trusty mechanics to lend a hand in case of any technical issues along the way.
