Team DSM continued their fine run of form at the Baloise Ladies Tour with a second stage victory in as many days on stage 2 for Lorena Wiebes. The win helps Wiebes increase her lead in the overall classification, as well as the points classification.
Already shouldering the jersey of race leader, the onus was very much on Team DSM today to control the race. However, it wasn't the expected bunch sprint that decided the stage with the win coming from a small group of just 10 riders. The breakaway, including Wiebes and teammate Pfeiffer Georgi, went clear after an intermediate sprint before eventually pulling out an advantage of nearly four minutes by the finish.
The stage win wouldn't have been possible without a huge effort from Georgi in the closing stages to bring the front group back together and keep Wiebes in contention for the win. Once again, Wiebes then proved fastest in the drag race to the line to take her 13th and Team DSM's 18th race victory of the season.
