BUONGIORNO DA TERRACINA PER LA QUINTA TAPPA DEL GIRO ROSA
Martedì 15 settembre il Giro rosa 2020 riparte da Terracina con una frazione dai risvolti imprevedibili. Dopo il giorno degli attacchi e della vittoria in solitaria di Elizabeth Banks su Eugenia Bujak e Annemiek Van Vleuten, che consolida così il suo primo posto in classifica generale davanti a Katarzyna Niewiadoma e Anna Van Der Breggen, la carovana, giunta nel Lazio, si trasferisce al mare. Si parte alle ore 12:00 da Terracina per tornarci dopo 110 chilometri e due Gpm. Il primo, di seconda categoria, in località Itri,dopo 50 chilometri di gara, quasi a metà percorso. Il secondo, all'ottantesimo chilometro a Monte San Biagio. Da lì al traguardo la strada è ancora lunga e, se le squadre delle velociste più resistenti troveranno l'accordo, non ci sarà pane per altri denti.
TERRACINA
Si approda in provincia di Latina con una città situata nell’agro pontino, a sud del Promontorio del Circeo, sulla costa tirrenica. Nei racconti mitologici di antica origine, Terracina veniva identificata come la sede della maga Circe. La città è suddivisa in una parte alta, di fondazione medievale, ed in una parte bassa, di stampo romano. La parte alta della città è impostata attorno all’antico Foro Emiliano, sede della cattedrale di San Cesareo e del municipio. Per gli amanti della bicicletta un’occasione da non perdere è una pedalata lungo il Viale Circe, lungomare da cui guardando l’orizzonte è possibile scorgere lo stupendo promontorio ove si narra abbia abitato la stessa maga Circe. Dal 1999 Terracina è inoltre sede distaccata dell’università degli studi di Cassino. L’Università degli Studi di Roma ‘’La Sapienza’’ ha istituito dal 2004, presso l’ospedale Fiorini, un corso di laurea in ‘’infermieristica’’. Terracina diede i natali, il 24 dicembre 3 a.C., a Servio Sulpicio Galba Cesare Augusto, sesto imperatore romano, noto con il nome di Galba.
