Sprinter Sacha Modolo of UAE Team Emirates, finished in the top ten at the third stage of the 100th Giro d’Italia which was won by Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step Floors), who will wear the the race leader’s pink jersey after his QuickStep-Floors team led the decisive break when echelons split through the peloton on the final approach to Cagliari. Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step Floors) leads in overall General Classification with Roberto Ferrari (UAE Team Emirates) placed seventh, 17 seconds behind Gaviria and teammate Sacha Modolo in tenth place. Orlando Maini, sports director: “The crosswinds changed the scenery in the finale, with 10 km to go, Quick-Step Floors created an echelon, where we did not succeed in being in the front of the race, in the end Modolo sprinted to 9th, he could not obtain more the this result.
