The second stage of Giro d'Italia , from Arnhem to Nijmegen of 190 km , had the epilogue of classic stages for sprinters, a sprint with compact ranks launched at very high speed.
Start of the day with only one escape attempt , went to the port immediately after the km 0.
Protagonists of the action of today 3 men : Berlato (Nippo-Vini Fantini), Spanish Omar Fraile (Dimension Data) and the Dutch Maarten Tjallingii (Lot NL-Jumbo).
The attackers have enjoyed the approval of the group, until 20 km from conclusion , at the start of the final circuit in the town of Nijmegen about 8.6 km to repeat 2 times.
Good the approach of the final lap for Lampre Merida , with Mohoric , Ferrari and Modolo always very careful not to be found themselves at the back of the group.
In the last km , the little train of the Team directed by Ds Maini and Scirea, gave to his opponents head up to 600 mt from the finish , where Ferrari has left Modolo on the wheels of the trains of Kittel and Demare.
"I have succeeded, thanks to my companions, to find a good location to set the sprint, unfortunately by 600 mt forward, between me and the first two riders of the stage, I lost 2,3 positions and I found myself a moment in delay in wrangle the sprint.
If I had found the wheel of Kittel or Demare immediately , the battle for victory would have been played better.
Nothing to remove to the beautiful sprint that did Marcel , really strong in this period of the Year" the words of Sacha Modolo.
