Centra il podio il corridore siciliano sotto gli occhi del presidente Mattarella. Fiorelli:"Questo podio riscatta un Giro d'Italia sfortunato".

Le dichiarazioni di Filippo Fiorelli: "Sapevo che non ci sarebbero state altre occasioni per fare un risultato, dovevo dare una svolta a questo Giro d'Italia in cui sono stato parecchio sfortunato, specialmente nell'episodio della quinta tappa con Cavendish. Ho fatto fatica a riprendermi completamente dopo gli infortuni alla gamba e alla mano, il freddo non ha aiutato e ho preso il raffreddore qualche giorno dopo. Oggi ho fatto una bella volata, forse avrei potuto fare di più perchè ho rimontato diverse posizioni e sono partito molto dietro, questo podio rappresenta un bel riscatto per me, sono estremamente felice".

Sicilian rider hits podium under the eyes of President Mattarella. "This podium redeems an unfortunate Giro d'Italia."

"I knew there would be no more chances to achieve a result because I had to turn this Giro d'Italia around in which I was quite unlucky, especially in the episode on stage 5 with Cavendish. I struggled to fully recover, the cold didn't help, and I caught a cold a few days later. This podium represents my redemption, and I am extremely happy. Perhaps at some point, I could have done more. Mark Cavendish's gesture of sportsmanship after the finish was very nice."
