Secondo posto di Davide Gabburo nell’ottava tappa del Giro d’Italia, nessun altro italiano al Giro in questo 2022 è andato più vicino al successo. Una condotta di gara esemplare lo ha portato prima nella fuga di giornata di 21 elementi, per poi portare via lui stesso i 5 atleti che si sono giocati il finale, sorprendendo persino Van Der Poel e Girmay.

Giro d’Italia, amore infinito che stava per trasformarsi in gioia infinita per la Bardiani CSF Faizanè, ma ci piace pensare per tutta l’Italia, che ha potuto sognare finalmente la prima vittoria tricolore al Giro d’Italia. Dopo il terzo posto di Davide Formolo nella settima tappa, con il secondo posto odierno è infatti Davide Gabburo l’italiano ad andare più vicino al successo in questo Giro 2022.

Una condotta di gara tatticamente esemplare che ha permesso all’atleta della Bardiani CSF Faizanè di entrare nell’attacco dei 21, per poi portare via nel momento decisivo della tappa a 40 km dal traguardo l’attacco decisivo. Queste le sue parole dopo il traguardo: “Oggi una tappa davvero perfetta o quasi. A 45 km dall’arrivo Van Der Poel ha fatto la prima fiammata creando scompiglio tra noi attaccanti e io mi sono sfilato capendo che non avrei potuto resistere a troppi di questi scatti. Ho quindi pensato di anticipare io stesso appena sono rientrato. Van Der Poel e Girmay hanno esitato controllandosi e noi siamo andati regolari rimanendo poi in 4 a giocarci il successo. Io ho cercato di lasciare qualche metro a Vanhoucke per giocarmi lo sprint finale lanciandomi ma De Gendt è stato più forte. Sono comunque estremamente felice di questo secondo posto. Per la squadra che mi ha dato fiducia facendomi debuttare al Giro a 28 anni nel 2021 e dandomi ulteriore fiducia quest’anno. Per i miei compagni Fiorelli e Zoccarato che meritavano di essere ancora qui con noi, ma sono incappati in una giornata sfortunata e in una brutta caduta. Domani devo recuperare dallo sforzo in una tappa complicata, ma nelle due settimane successive voglio sicuramente riprovarci, ci sono altre tappe mosse adatte a me.”

Per il 29enne di Bovolone si tratta della seconda partecipazione al Giro d’Italia. Il debutto alla Corsa Rosa nel 2021 condizionato da due cadute non lo hanno fatto perdere d’animo. Il team gli ha dato nuovamente fiducia in questo 2022 e Davide Gabburo ha provato a ripagarla con un successo a tinte rosa. Per lui il secondo posto odierno rappresenta uno dei risultati più prestigiosi della sua carriera, che vede una vittoria al GP Alanya nel 2021 e un 7° posto di categoria World Tour alla Eschborn Frankfurt nel 2019. Prima un passato fatto di grande determinazione, basti pensare che a 24 anni smise di correre per andare a lavorare in fabbrica per 6 mesi e ritrovando la motivazione per provarci ancora. La Bardiani CSF Faizanè ha scelto di dare fiducia a questo atleta italiano, che oggi ha dimostrato di poter ripagare le aspettative in lui riposte.

BARDIANI CSF FAIZANÈ: DAVIDE GABBURO WENT CLOSE TO THE FIRST ITALIAN VICTORY IN GIRO 2022

Second place for Davide Gabburo in the eighth stage of the Giro d’Italia, no other Italian in the Giro in this 2022 has come closer to success. An exemplary race conduct led him first in the breakaway of the day of 21 riders, and then he himself took away the 5 riders who played the final, surprising even Van Der Poel and Girmay.

Giro d’Italia, infinite love that was about to turn into infinite joy for Bardiani CSF Faizanè, but we like to think for all of Italy, who could finally dream of the first tricolor success in the Giro d’Italia. After Davide Formolo's third place in the seventh stage, with today's second place it is Davide Gabburo the Italian who is closest to success in this Giro 2022.

A tactically exemplary race behavior that allowed the Bardiani CSF Faizanè rider to enter the attack of the 21, and then take away the decisive attack in the decisive moment of the stage 40 km from the finish. These are his words after the finish line: “Today a truly perfect stage or almost. 45 km from the finish Van Der Poel made the first blaze creating havoc among us forwards and I slipped away realizing that I could not resist too many of these shots. I therefore thought of anticipating myself as soon as I returned. Van Der Poel and Girmay hesitated to control themselves and we went straight and then remained in 4 to play for the success. I tried to leave a few meters for Vanhoucke to play for the final sprint by throwing myself but De Gendt was stronger. However, I am extremely happy with this second place. For the team that gave me confidence by making me debut in the Giro at the age of 28 in 2021 and giving me further confidence this year. For my teammates Fiorelli and Zoccarato who deserved to be still here with us, but they ran into an unlucky day and a bad fall. Tomorrow I have to recover from the effort in a complicated stage, but in the next two weeks I definitely want to try again, there are other stages suitable for me."

This is the second participation in the Giro d'Italia for the 29 year old from Bovolone. His debut at the Corsa Rosa in 2021 conditioned by two crashes did not make him lose heart. The team has given him confidence again in this 2022 and Davide Gabburo has tried to repay it with a Giro stage success. For him, today's second place represents one of the most prestigious results of his career, which sees a victory at the GP Alanya in 2021 and a 7th place in the World Tour category at Eschborn Frankfurt in 2019. Before a past made of great determination, just think who at 24 stopped running to go to work in a factory for 6 months and found the motivation to try again with cycling.
