Wiggle High5 Pro Cycling is sending a strong team, in search of stage victories, to the Boels Rentals Ladies Tour - previously the Holland Ladies Tour - this week. The six-day race will start with a 4.3km prologue time trial, in Wageningen, near Arnhem, in the south east of the country, before making its way further south to the hilly Limburg region for its final stages.

Elisa Longo Borghini finished fifth overall in last year’s edition of the race, including second place in the hilly final stage, and will be looking for similar success this year after having returned from a mid-season break this week.

“I'm feeling good and ready for racing,” Longo Borghini said. “I will use the Boels Tour as preparation for the Worlds in Norway next month. I need to find my shape again after my break and my altitude training. My form is good and I hope to grow a bit more!”

Longo Borghini was one of the main protagonists in the GP Plouay - Lorient Agglo on Saturday, despite it being her first race after a three-week break that followed the European Championships.

“I am also looking forward to being able to help my teammates to achieve good results this week!” she added.

Wiggle High5 Pro Cycling’s Claudia Lichtenberg is one rider who will also be looking towards the hilly stages in the second half of the Boels Rentals Tour. The German climber sees the battle for the race’s orange jersey as one to favour the time triallists, but hopes to perform at her best on the steep roads of Limburg.

“With the prologue plus another individual time trial it will be a big advantage for the TT specialists,” she said. “In the hilly stages I expect a very hard race for both GC and stage wins.

“We have super atmosphere and we will stand totally motivated at the start line,” Lichtenberg added. “I'm feeling good and I'm happy to race my bike and support my team mates.”

The flatter stages in the opening few days of the Boels Rentals Tour will appeal to Wiggle High5 Pro Cycling’s two Australians, Amy Cure and Nettie Edmondson, whose track class and pedigree will see them as contenders for the sprints, as well as the opening Prologue.

The black and orange team will be completed by French Time Trial Champion Audrey Cordon-Ragot and Swedish rouleur Emilia Fahlin.
