Valcar – Travel & Service: Silvia Persico eÌ€ decima alle Strade Bianche
Silvia Persico regala alla Valcar – Travel & Service il primo piazzamento stagionale in una gara del World Tour chiudendo al 10° posto l’ottava edizione delle Strade Bianche Women Elite.
In quella che eÌ€ ormai considerata la sesta Classica Monumento, la 24enne eÌ€ rimasta con il gruppo delle migliori sul Colle Pinzuto, confermando l’ottima condizione giaÌ€ sfoggiata nelle prime apparizioni su strada in Belgio.
Con la ciclista bergamasca, Lotte Kopecky, Chantal Blaak, Ashleigh Moolman e Demi Vollering (SD Worx), Katarzyna Niewiadoma ed Elise Chabbey (Canyon Sram); Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig e Grace Brown (FDJ Aquitaine); Elisa Longo Borghini e Shirin Van Anrooij (Trek Segafredo); Liane Lippert e Floortje Mackaij (DSM); Marianne Vos (Jumbo Visma); Annemiek Van Vleuten (Movistar) e Yara Kastelijn (Plantur Pura).
Se lo sterrato delle Tolfe ha lanciato Lotte Kopecky e Annemiek Van Vleuten, rispettivamente prima e seconda al traguardo, Silvia Persico ha tenuto le ruote delle prime inseguitrici, terminando la sua fatica in decima posizione.
“EÌ€ un piazzamento importante e che daÌ€ fiducia, a me e alla squadra. Abbiamo corso davanti e i meccanismi stanno migliorando di gara in gara. A livello personale sono contenta del piazzamento: nonostante negli ultimi due o tre giorni non fossi stata molto bene, le gambe hanno girato bene. Sono riuscita a stare con le migliori nelle fasi calde della corsa, riuscendo ad arrivare in Piazza del Campo in decima posizione”.

Valcar – Travel & Service: 10th place of Silvia Persico at Strade Bianche
Silvia Persico gives Valcar - Travel & Service the first seasonal placement in a World Tour race, ending the eighth
edition of the Strade Bianche Women Elite in 10th place.
In what is considered the sixth Classic Monument, the 24-year-old held the group of the best riders on Colle Pinzuto, confirming the shape already shown in her debut in Belgium.
With the cyclist from Bergamo, Lotte Kopecky, Chantal Blaak, Ashleigh Moolman and Demi Vollering (SD Worx), Katarzyna Niewiadoma and Elise Chabbey (Canyon Sram); Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig and Grace Brown (FDJ Aquitaine); Elisa Longo Borghini and Shirin Van Anrooij (Trek Segafredo); Liane Lippert and Floortje Mackaij (DSM); Marianne Vos (Jumbo Visma); Annemiek Van Vleuten (Movistar) and Yara Kastelijn (Plantur Pura).
If the Tolfe gravel section launched Lotte Kopecky and Annemiek Van Vleuten, first and second at the finish line, Silvia Persico kept the pace of the first pursuers, finishing her effort in tenth position.
“It is an important placement that gives confidence to myself and my team. We were able to stay in the front of peloton and the mechanisms are improving race after race. Then, I am happy with the placement: although I had not been very well in the last three days, today I had a good legs speed: I was able to stay with the best athletes in the toughest gravels sections, managing to end in Piazza del Campo in tenth position".
