International women’s cycling team deliver ‘golden’ performance under extreme conditions

The Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team wins gold at the
Team Time Trial World Championships

SITTARD – The Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team has made a great start to this year’s Cycling World Championships in Qatar. In the stifling heat of Doha yesterday, the international women’s cycling team won the gold medal in the Team Time Trial. The years of dedication by the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team to be the absolute best in the world has once again paid off. Boels Rental, one of the two main sponsors of the team, is extremely proud of the team’s ‘golden’ performance.

For the 2016 season, winning the Team Time Trial at the World Championships was at the top of the list with ambitions. Ellen van Dijk, Chantal Blaak, Lizzie Deignan, Evelyn Stevens, Karol-Ann Canuel and Christine Majerus made it a reality. Their time, 48’ 41” 62 over a distance of forty kilometres, turned out to be more than enough to step up to the highest stage position. They crossed the finish line an amazing forty-eight seconds ahead of second place and even almost two minutes quicker than the number three. The victory in Doha was the team’s fortieth win.

Team performance
Hard work, constantly improving and the unconditional will to be the best; these characteristics were at the heart of the victory in Doha. Boels Rental, one of the two main sponsors of the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team, is therefore very proud of the top-flight performance that the international women’s cycling team delivered.

Yvo Hoppers, Corporate Marketing & Communications Manager at Boels Rental, comments: “The team has truly risen above itself. Particularly under such extreme conditions, in these scorching hot temperatures, winning gold is nothing short of an admirable and extraordinary performance. It demands a great amount of energy, both physically and mentally. Teamwork is then the keyword. The riders of the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team really worked together as a team and in the end triumphed as a team; as a close-knit unity with one common goal: gold. The ultimate reward for their efforts then fits perfectly with the ideas of our international rental company: that you can only be successful as a team.”
