Team DSM's Women's program crowned off a brilliant season with a sensational display of riding at Ronde van Drenthe today, with Lorena Wiebes finishing off an incredible team performance to take the win.
Keeping tabs on proceedings earlier in the afternoon, the team put their plan into action as the peloton headed into the second half of the day; riding aggressively as a unit and lighting up the race. An incredible show of strength saw the team place four riders in the front group of seven after the last ascent of the VAM-berg. With finisher Wiebes in the move, the team set a strong tempo to break the will of the chasers behind before setting Wiebes up perfectly. A superb lead out in sight of the line launched Wiebes like a missile, who duly delivered the win; the 18th of the year for the Women's program. A further four Team DSM riders finished in the top ten, making for the perfect way to end the 2021 road season.
