Continuing their fantastic early season form, Team DSM’s Women’s program tasted victory for the second time in 2022 as Lorena Wiebes powered home to take the win at Ronde van Drenthe after a brilliant team effort, doubling-up on the team’s win at the race in 2021.
Working well as a group, the team kept their eye on proceedings in the early stages over the opening cobbled sections, saving their energy for the tough VAM-berg and windswept roads to come in the latter half of the day. Any dangerous move was marked expertly and always had a Team DSM jersey in it, with the team brilliantly following their plan to set up Wiebes for the finale. An all-in chase from the team saw the late attackers caught inside 600 metres to go, before Wiebes lit the proverbial blue touch paper and surged clear of the peloton: taking a sublime sprint win for the team.
