The 20-year-old is a 2015 world champion in the points race on the track and European champion in the Omnium. Pikulik is the current U23 Polish road champion and is a versatile rider with a good performance in the time trial discipline too. “I'm very happy and motivated,” she said. “This is a great chance for me and I want to make the most of it. I want to show my best side to the team and not take this opportunity for granted. I would like to work hard to fit into the team immediately and gain the trust from the riders and be there to help them.” Team Manager, Thomas Campana says this is another commitment from the team to develop young talent. “Our scouting abilities has been very successful for us. This is something we are very passionate about. It is very rewarding to work with largely unknown riders who are major talents and fit into the team with great character then bring them to the front in world cycling. As a team, we have found our path this way and we believe Daria will add to that greatly. We are very excited for her and can’t wait to see her pin a number on for the first time.” Asked what her career goals are, Pikulik says she focuses on each season as it comes building towards an Olympic medal someday. “I believe this is the team to help me get an Olympic medal. The development of young riders has been very impressive. I have the mentality to never surrender, I have a hard head so I am looking forward to working with the team.” Pikulik’s race program will be communicated in due course. |
