Moolman-Pasio Close To Victory In Emilia
|
Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio ended her European season with another fine result, notching up second place in Giro dell’Emilia Internazionale Donne. The win went to Elisa Longo Borghini riding for the Italian national team while Amber Neben (BePink) rounded out the podium. The race took place in rainy conditions which had an effect as the South African champion was involved in a crash. She was unhurt and able to continue and play a role in the final. “I'm happy to finish 2nd at Giro Emilia today. The team did an excellent job, we were up against a very strong Italian national team, but Bigla showed we were there for business and the girls executed the team plan perfectly today. I had some bad luck being involved in a crash in the wet conditions, but I felt strong today and of course I'm disappointed not to reward the team with a win. But a podium was a nice way to end off the Euro season as a team, and I look forward to building on what we have achieved as a team in the coming year,” Moolman-Pasio said. She added, “Emilia is a beautiful race, with an even more beautiful finish up the tough climb to San Luca. I would definitely like to be back next year to have another crack at the win.” The race brought to a close to the European season for Moolman-Pasio, her first with the Bigla Pro Cycling Team.
