Lorena Wiebes rounded out a well executed plan by Team DSM on stage 4 of the Women's Tour today to sprint to victory in Southend-on-Sea. After a controlled stage whereby no real breakaway formed at the front of the race, the team set about positioning Wiebes for the fast run-in to the finish.
Team DSM ensured they covered the moves all day, placing in the top three in the latter intermediate sprints and QOM climbs in the process, and with everything still together after the final climb all eyes turned to the finishing sprint. The result comes a day after the team placed two riders in the top five in the individual time trial, taking three spots in the top 10 heading into stage 4 with Juliette Labous sat in second overall.
