Finnish Champion Lepistö Commits to BPCT For 2016
Lotta Lepistö is the latest athlete to renew her contract with the Bigla Pro Cycling Team in a move that will see the sprinter remain with the team for 2016. The news comes after Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio also committed to the team for next year.
Lepistö made major strides this year which saw her take her first professional victory outside of her national titles in Thuringen Rundfahrt. Along with that, she also successfully defended her national time trial and road titles.
“We started the team this year with big names and I was really happy about it because I felt that this is the year to learn how to race,” Lepistö said. “I have learnt a lot in 2015. I think I took a big step from 2014 to 2015. I surprised myself, especially in Thuringen Rundfahrt. I took my first international win there, which still makes me smile.”
She continued, “My goals for next year is to be overall a better rider. There are some parts where I can develop more and of course I want to be the best sprinter. I want to take one more step and get less 5th or 7th places but get instead more victories.”
Team Manager, Thomas Campana said, “We’re delighted with this news. From the early days Lotta showed great determination to leave Finland in search of a professional career. Our team management first spotted her in Belgium and her hunger to improve and become the best is still the same. We believe 2015 just showed glimpses of her potential and we’re looking forward to showing what else she can do.”
