With the team having made a strong start at the Giro Rosa, the most prestigious stage race event on the women’s cycling calendar, it’s clear that optimal preparation has been a key part of this success.
Ahead of this important race, regrouping and coming together for training in an ideal location was crucial to our team continuing to perform at a high level. That’s why we count ourselves fortunate to be able to enjoy the Andermatt Alpine Apartments and Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen, and find particular benefit from the spa and fitness studio. We have called Andermatt our home training grounds for quite some time now. They offer everything we need to make our stay in the Swiss Alps a pleasant experience.
While recovering from training efforts, our riders enjoy the views of scenic, snow-capped peaks in the comfort of their world-class accommodation. It’s an ideal base from which to start our daily training activities. The area offers smooth roads, but also gravel sections, ideal terrain that lets us prepare in a variety of different ways for our upcoming races. The hotel and apartments are not far from the foot of Furkapass, the highest pass in the area, standing at an impressive 2429m. The views down the snaking descents are quite amazing. Another route that our riders recently took is the short climb up to Furkapass and Oberalppass, stunning ascents with views of the ice blue reservoirs and sheer rockfaces.
During their daily training sessions, our riders were able to take in breathtaking views of the pristine nature, exceptional landscapes, and amazingly high passes that surround this region. All this makes the tough days in the saddle worthwhile. On our rides, we experience thick forest, unique rock formations and stunning mountain peaks. For this reason, Andermatt is truly a cyclist's paradise, not just for professional riders, but all cyclists. It is always a pleasure to stay here, and enjoy the hospitality and welcoming atmosphere, and that’s why we return year after year for our training camps.
