Eighth place for Elizabeth Banks on the queen stage of the OVO Energy Women’s Tour, as Bigla heads into the final day with two riders in the top 10

The fifth stage of the Women’s OVO Energy Tour led the riders on an arduous course between Llandrindod Wells and Builth Wells. This 140km long parcours featured the Queen of the Mountain climbs of Gorddwr Bank and Pennau along its unrelenting route. With a total elevation gain of 2,206 metres, the penultimate stage five of this year’s race was the hardest in the tour’s history.

The day was characterised by a series of attacks by several different groups of riders, including Leah Thomas, who attempted to chase down a leading group from a significantly reduced peloton. Teammate Elizabeth Banks also put in a notable effort, taking eighth place at the end of the day.

Bigla now has two riders in the top 10 of the general classification. Lizzy sits in sixth place while her teammate Leah Thomas currently lies in ninth position. Tomorrow the riders will conquer the last stage of this year's edition of the race.
