The UCI Women’s WorldTour continues on Sunday with one of the most prestigious races on the calendar, the Tour of Flanders. At 141 kilometres, the tough course coupled with the longer than usual distance makes it one of the hardest races around. Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling Team gained more confidence during Wednesday’s Pajot Hills Classic where Lotta Lepistö placed third and Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio eighth and will be looking to take this progression into the race. Stephanie Pohl makes her debut for the team and replaces Nicole Hanselmann who is suffering from a cold. Team manager, Thomas Campana says it’s one of the most difficult races on the calendar and one of the hardest ones to win. “Nicole is sick so Stephanie makes her debut. This is the most important race so we need a strong roster. We missed Joëlle [Numaninville] in the group on Wednesday because she crashed but that was the only mistake we made. The girls did really well on Wednesday to execute the team plan without race radios. I think it was the best race for us this season. We have to keep on working at this sort of level because the level of the peloton is incredibly high and it’s difficult to win,” Campana said. “I think we will be super strong as a team for Sunday with Stephanie joining us it will add to the depth of the team,” Carmen Small added. “I’m sure we will come up with a good tactic that can help set us up for a good result.
