Despite only starting with 5 riders, the team was only 4 seconds off the pace

Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling Team got the new Semana Ciclista Valenciana off to a great start, finishing second in the team time trial.

The new race started with a technical 6,6km team time trial. Bepink Cogeas was fastest over the distance with a time of 9’18” followed by Cervélo Bigla in 9’22”.

“I think we can be proud of today,” Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio said before getting on the podium. “With the climbing team we have here, this was a sprinters course and I’m proud of the girls. We all gave what we could. There’s definitely room for improvement. The technical side of the course is maybe what held us back a little bit but we’ll keep pushing on working and improving, it’s still early days in the race.”

The Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling team is passionate about rider development and has done so successfully in the last years. Despite only starting the event with five riders today, Moolman-Pasio says this is what made today’s time even more impressive.

“We started with 5 riders and lost another rider too early and were down to four. We are here with a young team so it’s all about learning and growing and that’s exactly what today was. We’re only going to get better and better.”

The race will follow in the next days with three road stages. Stage two is from Gandia - Gandia over 110km featuring two categorised climbs.
