Lisa Klein wins best young rider in Healthy Ageing Tour

The Healthy Ageing Tour ended on a successful note for the Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling Team. 20-year-old Lisa Klein won the best young rider classification, along with defending her fourth place on the overall standings.

The final stage took place on the German island of Borkum. After three riders spent the majority of the day making up the breakaway, the peloton led by Stephanie Pohl and Allie Dragoo finally reeled them in at the 3km to go mark. Lotta Lepistö finished seventh, behind stage winner Emilie Moberg (Hitec Products). Klein and Lepistö were well looked after by the team throughout the day. Both rider completed the race in the top 10 of the general classification.

After stepping off the podium to receive the jersey, Klein who finished nearly every stage in the top ten said, "I made big developments this week but only because of the help and support of my three amazing teammates here. I am also gratfeul for everything I've learnt in the team from our experienced riders, Lotta, Ashleigh [Moolman-Pasio] and for sure Stephie."

The stage race started off well with four riders placing in the top ten of the opening time trial stage. Lepistö finished third on the second stage while on the third stage - with only four riders - the team came within 30 seconds of winning the team time trial, eventually settling for second. Klein proved her development is on track when she finished second on stage 3, missing the win by millimetres.

The team leaves the event after a very productive week of racing. Attention will now be turned to the Ardennes Classics which kicks off next Sunday with the Amstel Gold Race.
