Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig third at Ronde van Vlaanderen
Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig took out an outstanding third place at Ronde van Vlaanderen today. The race was a tough one and lived up to its expectations. The last 45km in particular saw several attacks, but Cille remained attentive through the day and launched her own attack with around 15km remaining. In the end it came down to a tight sprint for the win between Bastianelli, van Vleuten and our Danish rider. Her efforts throughout the day were ultimately capped off with an outstanding podium place in this iconic Belgian race, a reward not just for Cille, but also for her teammates, who worked hard to support her throughout the race.
After finishing third, Cille said: "Today's race was a fantastic experience. My teammates supported me so well the whole day. And Thomas Campana, our Team Manager, motivated me from the team car, and that was a huge help. The atmosphere in the team was excellent and without question everyone did their best today. We knew that the Hotond climb would be very hard, and attacks just followed after attacks. And then on the Kwaremont the race exploded. It was really nice to be able to animate the race. I would not have achieved this podium place without my teammates and the staff in the team, and I'm really thankful for their work."
Team Manager Thomas Campana echoed these sentiments, commenting after the race: "The Ronde van Vlaanderen ist an extremely important race for this team, and we've been here for two weeks to prepare everything well. We have a young team, and many riders in our squad had not ever taken part in this race before. Today, because of the Hotond, Kwaremont and Paterberg, Cille strategically changed bikes, in order to gain more traction on the climbs. It was perhaps a risk, but it paid off. I am very proud of the whole team, and that means all the riders and also the team staff, who all put in a phenomenal effort today. Today's result is, particularly for such a young team, really an outstanding achievement."
