Team manager Danny Stam and riders Lizzie Armitstead, Chantal Blaak, Christine Majerus, Nikki Harris and Amalie Dideriksen have all recently extended their contracts by two years. Team management is extremely pleased to have secured new talent like Van der Breggen alongside returning riders.
Van der Breggen leaves Rabo-Liv to join Boels-Dolmans.
“After riding for RaboLiv for three wonderful seasons, it is time for me for something new,” Van der Bregen said. “Choosing a great team like Boels-Dolmans felt like a logical step. I am happy with my two-year-contract and hope to achieve my further goals with the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team.”
The 2015 season was a break-out year for Van der Breggen that saw her win Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, La Flèche Wallonne, Giro Rosa and La Course She time trialled to her first elite time trial title at the Dutch Road Championships and came second in both the individual time trial and the road race at the UCI Road World Championships in Richmond. She was also part of Rabo-Liv’s bronze-medal ride in the team time trial in Richmond.
Van der Breggen, who has organised her season around the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, has continued to show signs of her strength in 2016. She successfully defended her title at Flèche Wallonne in April.
“Anna is a very complete rider who fits in with the team perfectly and is beneficial to the team’s balance,” said Stam. “With the addition of Anna, we have gained an extra finisher who is a jack-of-all-trades. Also, she has proven to be loyal in the past. In short, she is a great asset for the team, one of in whom we can all be proud.”
