BUONGIORNO GIRO ROSA DA TREZZO SULL'ADDA

Si comincia a salire: la 5° tappa del Giro Rosa prevede il primo arrivo in quota, ai 1181 metri di Aprica. La tappa non prevede particolari difficoltà altimetriche, esclusa l'erta finale dal versante di Edolo, ma la strada della Valcamonica è un lungo e continuo falsopiano che porta fino ai 700 metri di inizio salita. Le big si daranno battaglia sui 15 km finali e la classifica subirà uno scossone piuttosto importante, ma non ancora decisivo. La fase calda del 26° Giro Rosa inizia oggi.

Il Giro Rosa è anche in Radio: questa sera dalle 18 alle 19 va in onda "Ultimo Chilometro", il programma radiofonico partner ufficiale del Giro d'Italia Femminile condotto da Carlo Gugliotta. Tra gli ospiti che interverranno nella puntata di oggi ci sarà anche la Veronese della Orica-AIS Valentina Scandolara, già Maglia Azzurra dopo il prologo di Lubiana e seconda classificata a Mantova dietro a Lucinda Brand.

GOOD MORNING FROM TREZZO SULL'ADDA

The climbs begin: the 5th stage has the first uphill finish, at the 1181 m of Aprica. There are not important big altimetry troubles, except the final climb from Edolo but the road of Val Camonica is a continuous slight slope until the 700 m of the climb start. The leaders will fight in the final 15 kms and the classification will get an important modification, but still not decisive. The hottest phase of the Giro Rosa 2015 begins today.

The Giro Rosa is on Radio too: tonight from 6 to 7 PM there is "Ultimo Chilometro" the radio programme moderated by Carlo Gugliotta. One of the special guests tonight is Valentina Scandolara from Orica-AIS Cycling Team, former Blue Jersey after the prologue and second in the sprint in Mantova behind Lucinda Brand.

Moolman-Pasio Fifth On Stage 5

Stage 5 of the Giro Rosa saw the first mountaintop finish as the race finished in Aprica. Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio crossed the line in fifth place on the stage. The day was won by world champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot (Rabo-Liv) who attacked with 3 kilometres to go. She got a maximum lead of 15 seconds and maintained a 1 second advantage across the line.

Maglia Rosa leader Megan Guarnier (Boels-Dolmans) was second followed by Anna van der Breggen (Rabo-Liv).

"Today was another great team effort,” Moolman-Pasio said at the end. “The girls did an excellent job at looking after me. It was a dangerous stage in that it wasn’t the hardest climb to the top but it meant that it could possibly be a day for a breakaway to stay away.”

The stage started fast with Sarah Roy (Orica-AIS) getting the first gap of the day. However, she was reeled in and later 19 riders escaped. Boels-Dolmans of race leader Guarnier took it upon themselves to bring the move back. As the race made its way to the climb, it was all together except for a lone leader maintaining a small advantage.

“When we hit the final climb, I was very well supported by Annemiek [van Vleuten] and Joëlle [Numainville]. I felt really good up the climb. It wasn’t too steep but there were a few attacks. There was a point where Pauline got away but she never really got a big gap. Anna and Megan took a few seconds on the line but GC mostly stays the same. We’re looking forward to the next few stages where it just gets tougher and tougher as the days go by,” Moolman-Pasio concluded.

The South African national champion remains third overall in the classification trailing Guarnier by 12 seconds. Unfortunately Doris Schweizer was unable to take to the start as she failed to recover from injuries sustained by a crash the previous day.

APRICA (SO), 8 LUGLIO 2015

APRICA ARRIVO PER VERI CAMPIONI, VINCE PAULINE FERRAND-PREVOT

Il primo arrivo in salita non produce grandi scossoni in classifica generale ma si annovera ulteriormente come un traguardo vincente per re e regine del ciclismo mondiale. E' infatti la campionessa del mondo in carica su strada e di ciclocross Pauline Ferrand-Prevot la vincitrice della quinta tappa del Giro Rosa 2015 partita da Trezzo sull'Adda, dove era presente anche il Presidente della F.C.I Renato Di Rocco, e arrivo dopo 128 km nella località montana valtellinese). La bagarre si è avuta come previsto nei chilometri finali con arrivo in salita, dove la campionessa di Ucraina Tatiana Riabchenko (Inpa Sottoli Giusfredi) ha provato ad allungare nei pressi di Edolo guadagnando circa 20'', con un primo gruppo di 17 che ha provato ad avvicinarsi senza esito. Il gruppo resta lì a guardare fino ai -6, quando si muove prima Claudia Lichtenberg, la quale col suo attacco riesce a portare il gruppo Maglia Rosa al ricongiungimento; infine Francesca Cauz con la Ferrand-Prevot se ne vanno ai -3 ma vengono riprese. Nonostante anche un breve tentativo di altre 3 atlete non viene lasciato alcun spazio a nessuno, ma la campionessa mondiale trova la zampata vincente nelle ultime centinaia di metri e supera di 1'' il gruppetto regolato dalla Maglia Rosa Megan Guarnier su Anna Van der Breggen.
Il Giro resta in Valtellina domani per la 6° tappa da Tresivio a Morbegno.

APRICA ONLY FOR CHAMPIONS, THE WINNER IS PAULINE FERRAND-PREVOT

The first uphill finish doesn't make big gaps but it is once more a finish for true cycling champions. Pauline Ferrand-Prevot (Rabo-Liv), the road and cyclocross world champions is the winner of the 5th stage (Trezzo sull'Adda - Aprica, 128 kms). Nothing happened right after the start, where the President of the Italian Cycling Federation gave the honour of his presence.The bagarre begins in Edolo, at the start of the final climb, with the attack of the Ukrainian Champion Tatiana Riabchenko (Inpa Sottoli Giusfredi), gaining about 20'', and a group tries to reach her. The Pink Jersey Peloton controls the race until 6 kms to go where Claudia Lichtenberg (Liv-Plantur) attacked. With 40 cyclists in the front, the attacks succeeded, first with Francesca Cauz and Pauline Ferrand-Prevot, then with other three athletes. Just Pauline Ferrand Prevot finds the right moment to sprint and gain one second to the group regulated by the Pink Jersey Megan Guarnier (Boels Dolmans Cycling Team, 3rd place for Anna Van der Breggen (Rabo-Liv).
The Giro stays in Valtellina for one more day, tomorrow the 6th stage goes from Tresivio to Morbegno.
