La prima tappa di piena montagna del Criterium du Dauphiné, la La Ravoire-Vaujany di 140 km con ben 7 Gpm e arrivo in salita) ha dato alla LAMPRE-MERIDA ottime conferme sulla condizione dei due scalatori blu-fucsia-verdi, ovvero Meintjes (9° al traguardo, foto Bettini) e Conti (15th).
Altimetria mossa sin dai primi chilometri, molto invitante per i corridori desiderosi di andare all'attacco: infatti, sulle rampe del primo Gpm di giornata, la Cote de la Chapelle Blanche, Grmay e altri 4 atleti suono fuoriusciti dal gruppo, poi lo stesso campione etiope ha attaccato nuovamente dopo che il plotone aveva annullato la prima azione.
Al 25° km di gara, Grmay si è così trovato a condurre la corsa assieme al compagno di squadra Pibernik e ad altri 23 corridori, ma l'atleta africano della LAMPRE-MERIDA non è riuscito a conquistare, ai Gpm sui quali è transitata la fuga, i punti necessari per conquistare la maglia a pois di miglior scalatore, venendo preceduto da Teklehaimanot.
Ben 20 corridori membri della fuga sono stati riassorbiti dal gruppo lungo la discesa de la Cote de la Sarrazine (90 km di gara), mentre è riuscito a rimanere al comando il quintetto formato da Grivko, Gasparotto, Gautier, Huzarski e Dayer Quintana: Gasparotto è stato l'ultimo atleta ad arrendersi, venendo ripreso a 4 km dal traguardo dal gruppo, ridottosi ai soli migliori scalatori, con presenti Meintjes e Conti.
Ai -2,6 km Froome ha proposto l'allungo rivelatosi vincente, al quale ha resistito solo Porte, regolato poi sul traguardo: dietro al duo di testa si è formato un terzetto composto da Adam Yates (3° a 19"), Daniel Martin e Contador, seguiti a pochissima distanza dal drappello comprendente un brillantissimo Meintjes, bravo a mantenere una cadenza di pedalata efficace che gli ha consentito di tagliare la linea d'arrivo al 9° (+27" da Froome).
Poco dopo il talento sudafricano, è giunto al traguardo il giovane italiano Conti, 15° con un ritardo di 1'07"
L'ottima prestazione odierna porta Meintjes al 10° posto della classifica generale, a 1'27" da Froome, mentre Conti è 16° a 2'05".
Grmay occupa la seconda posizione nella graduatoria dei migliori scalatori, a 9 lunghezze da Teklehaimanot.
Non ha completato la tappa Koshevoy, reduce da un dispendioso Giro d'Italia.

The first high mountain stage in the Criterium du Dauphiné, the La Ravoire-Vaujany of 140 km with 7 categorized climbs and summit arrival) gave to LAMPRE-MERIDA good feedbacks from their top climbers Meintjes (9th, photo Bettini) and Conti (15th).
The hilly course was tempting for those riders who wanted to escape frm the bunch and in fact, on the first Kom, the Cote de la Chapelle Blanche, Grmay and other 4 riders attacked and the Ethiopian champion attacked a second time after that the peloton had neutralized his first attempt.
At the 25th kilometer, LAMPRE-MERIDA's African rider was leading the race together with his team mate Pibernik and with other 23 cyclists, however Grmay did not succeed in collecting enough points for becoming the leader of the polka dots jersey (best climber), which was obtained by Teklehaimanot.
Tewnty members of the breakaway were dropped in the descent of the Cote de la Sarrazine (90 km in the race), while Grivko, Gasparotto, Gautier, Huzarski and Dayer Quintana detained the leadership of the stage.
Gasparotto was the last rider to be reached (at 4 km to the arrival) by the chasing group, which had been heavily selected and whose members were the best climbers, including the blue-fuchsia-green duo Meintjes and Conti.
Froome made his winning attack at 2,6 km to go and only Porte could follow him, before being beated in the sprint; behind the leading duo there was three riders (Adam Yates, 3rd at 19", Daniel Martin and Contador) and immediately after the finish line was crossed by a second group of chasers in which there was Meintjes, who had been great in maintaining a good cadence which allowed him to obtain the 9th place at 27" to Froome.
Conti was in the third chasing group, which reach the arrival at 1'07" from the winner: the Italian rider was 15th.
Thanks to today impressive performance, the South African talented rider he's 10th in the general classification (+1'27" from Froome) and Conti is 16th (+2'05").
Second place in the best climbers standing for Grmay, 9 points far from the leader Teklehaimanot.
Koshevoy did not finish the stage.
