Radovljica (Slovenia) June 30th  Amazing success of Domen Novak at the National Championships Slovenia – Road Race.

The 23-year-old Bahrain Merida rider claims his first National title, after a strong ride on a tough course made of 7 laps of 23 km each, with a difference in altitude of a total 3,000 metersin the Region Gorenjska.

Domen was part of a 7-man group early breakaway, dictating the rhythm from the beginning: “Immediately after the start, I escaped with a small group. Then on every lap there were less of us. In the end, only three remained”. In fact, he was able to stay away with two riders from Adria Mobil, with a good pace and collaboration. In the last lap Novak attacked and was able to stay alone in front on the last 15km, taking a nice solo win in Radovljica.

“In the last lap I did my best. I've already seen on the race that they are very strong and they kept the pace all the time. I’ve came on the last climb before them and then first to the finish”.

So the Slovenian Champion jersey remains in Bahrain Merida team: “Last year I came together with Matej Mohorič and lost my victory for one place, but this year the luck was on my side” adds Domen that took silver medal in Slovenian National Championships in 2018.

“There were very strong riders competing today, but the national championships is a race for itself, where everyone can win. I was injured for 3 months and even if I felt better every day, I didn’t think I was so good”.
